two important ones are gain and crossover. the crossover cutoff determines how much signal is sent to your speaker(s), and the gain determines how much amplification the amp produces. all the other junk should be set to zero.

if you got it installed, your installer should have set the gains, so you should be set. in fact, if you tweak the gain and blow your speakers, its not uncommon to lose your warrantee at the shop....

as far as setting gains, ive read the Sounddomain.com method. Is it Reliable and okay to use?

THey suggest you take the squareroot of the Amps power @ the ohms it will be running at.

Mines is 400 watts @ 4ohms which equals 1600.
The squareroot of that is 40.

SO they are trying to tell me i should run a 50hz test tone at 0 db and set the gain till the speaker out terminals are reading 40 volts.

It seems to be working fine with this method, but i havent heard anyone here suggest doing it.

HA that's right.. we get quite a few customers who come in with blown speakers and their bass settings are turned up all the way on their head units, and the gains on their amp(s) are cranked, and their low pass xover is set at 120hz+..

as soon as we see any of that, warranty is GONE. We tune all of our amps with the bass settings on the head unit as low as it can go and quite often, the gains are hardly even touched..

This is probably one of the best explainations I've found online so far..
Gain control explaination

Here are a few articles explaining crossovers
Electronic crossovers
Passive crossovers
Differences of crossovers
More on Passive crossovers

These sites explain it way better than I ever could so read up and educate yourself!!!!!!!
