Just have a quick question. Is it better to have all the same brand speakers? Im just referring to the 6.5 in the door and the 6x9s in the back. Im not worried about subs, b/c I dont want any. Right now I have Infinity 6002i and stock 6x9s. I have stock b/c Im at a crossroads at what to get. My brother said to just get pioneer 6x9s coz they are cheaper than the 2-way infinity 692.7i. He didnt say which pioneers will fit in an 01 coupe, so I have to research that. Anybody know what pioneers fit in an 01 coupe?

I wanna go with infinity b/c I am very pleased with the sound quality of the 6.5" that I have. I

Its all up to you! There is nothing wrong with mixing speakers! just remember that no 2 brands sound the same! Just listen to some speakers that you like and put them in no matter what the brand is.

I stick to the same brand because I want a similar sound coming from both front and rear.

i worked for a car audio shop and it was always simple to sale alpine decks with alpine fronts and rears with apline amps and alpine subs and not just because alpine is that great, all pio systems or fosgate amps with fosgate subs. after hearing everything there is to hear i went with alpine hu, boston ac rears, fosgate sub amp, kenwood 4ch, alpine rears and alpine subs with a dei(the alarm company) sirius link.

I have alpine speakers in the front and pioneers in the back but I don't really care for the rear speakers since I had the fader +3 on the front. If you aren't going for subs look for a rear set good at lower frequencies which I hear Pioneer is good at.

^x2.

i wouldnt spend more than 100 bucks on rear 6x9s though... you really dont "hear" them in the drivers seat. just get some decent 3-ways (or 2-ways since there cheaper) and you'll be set.

Sometimes mixing is better, but i have all Kicker throughout my car, including EQ's and even the speaker wire.... all a matter of preference.

Well actually, what you would want to do is break down each location you are installing a speaker and decide what it is you would like to get out of that speaker. Then use whatever particular speaker is best suited for the application. It's all very application specific. Try and think about what the location you are installing entails. For instance, say you are putting speakers high up on you dash, tweeters, and you chose the location because of the ease of install or whatever reason. You think, what qualities do I want in this particular speaker. First off, you'd want the highs to be on the softer side, say silk dome. Or maybe you wan't a bassy sound from you rears, cuz you didnt' use subs. You'd wanna go with a Kicker or something back there over say Infinity.

no way dude my system's a MUTT and it sounds great.
JBLs speakers. MBquart 8" subs for mid, and an MTX 12" for low lows. Alpine amp. Sounds great.

get whatever you want, no reason to keep it all the same.

Although you are correct when you say, there is no reason to keep it all the same, it's very inaccurate to think you can just throw whatever brands and sizes you want together and it'll sound good. If you whipped together a mixing bowl of speakers/amps and didn't put any thought into it, and it sounds great, consider yourself lucky. Yes you can certainly mix it up, but it requires some care and concern.

Exactly! Just think about what install locations you are using and what you wan't to get out of those particular speakers, then go and listen for it. I myself am a pretty big fan of midbass or bass up front. I'm not whiterabbit-10"-sub-on-my-floor into bass up front, although I liked the install a lot, but I definitely wanted something more than Infinity. It's personal pref and what you are looking to get out of the system.
