Viper Sensitivity
Ever since i got my Viper 791VX installed by the dealer, it goes off every night at 1 a.m, is the sensitivity to high or did the dealer set it to go off at that time every day ? Anyone know how i can fix it ?
there's a little **** on the shock sensor. mine is too sensitive, when a truck passes by it, it turns on. sensitive is not always good i've learned, i have to change it to a not so sensitive setting.

You don't want it real sensitive because, and this is especially true for the case that was described by the thread starter, you'll get accustomed to thinking "hey, it always does this *click* and it's off". What happens when someone sets it off cause they're breaking in? Yep, *click* and back to sleep. Nice surprise when you wake up in the morning. Don't set it too sensitive.
There is an orange dial that has a slot like a phillip screw driver on the clear module about the size of your viper transponder. Clockwise more sensitive, counter-clockwise less sensitivity.
Does remote start hurt your engine or your car in general? I have the same alarm and was wondering.

i dont think it ruin's anything, i wouldn't see why, all it does is turn the car on, if not programmed right, it might try to crank the ignition too much, and thus damaging something in the motor.
i don't see anything wrong with my alarm though, works great. 790xv.
having it too sensitive is bad, cars drive by all the time, my alarm goes off, sometimes i dont' even look to see if anything happened, just *CLICK*, bad. need to fix it.

I was told for my Clifford (DEI Product just as Viper) that instead of setting my shock sensor really low, to get a glass break mic, works pretty good both set about the same level! Also have a mercury switch for level in case someone desides to jack the car up and hood/trunk/door pins all connected!!!

alarms don't work. Most average thieves can stop the siren in less than a minute, and nobody will look anyway. They all hate siren noise.

The cheapest i found it was at sonicelectronix.com, $240 shipped, although there is no warranty, because Viper doesnt want their alarms sold online and without installation, transponder is gonna be anywhere for $30 to $50, and installation is highly recommended by a professional, so much wiring for everything...took the pro about 3 hours, think of how long it would take the average DYI'er

Yeah it goes off at 1 a.m every night, my parents are getting pissed, they even wonder why i got the alarm, not knowing that up the street lives a crackhead, that robbed my friends Type-R integra really bad, he was so desperate to take the aftermarket Z fender off, that he actually took a hammer to it and now there is a big fiberglass hole in the fender, broken M3 sideview mirror that was done with a bat, cracked sideskirt, stolen underglow ( i know ricer ), stolen indash TV....you get my point
