Radio Scanner

Well, our police force just changed there radio policies. They were recently sued because they were using encrypted radio signals. They now however are broadcasting in the open. I have been wanting to get a scanner for quite some time now and now seems the best time. Is there anyone on here that has one? If so what kind, brand etc.....I also will be driving to Florida next week so it would be nice to know what is going on in the surrounding areas. Thanks again!

What the police have is actually quite genius. Some of the cars here have the antenna run UNDER the car. Some also have them in the back of the squad car. Does anyone on this board have a scanner that can help me out?

Oh and btw.....it is iillegal to trasmit on a police freq. so that is why I am buying a scanner.
