OEM Stereo/Speaker Specs 2001 Civic Sedan LX

I'm about to upgrade the stereo system and need to understand what I've got before taking everything apart. So far, this is what I've read: (4) x 5.25" speakers (paper cones, manufacturer unknown), two in the front door and two in the package tray; Alpine cassette/radio, 80 watts rms. Would someone please verify this information? Also, any thoughts on soundstage improvement by adding speakers to the rear doors?

Check out Crutchfield.com and pick your car, it will show you what fits. I think the sedan takes 6 1/2 front and back. I had Pioneer 6x9s and have no idea what is in the front. The deck is clarion i think. For sound staging go with some component speakers or tweeters, they really help.

rear doors... so i'm guessing you have a sedan.... both the front and rear are 6.5 pioneers. the headunit, no ones really 100% sure but honda has been using alpine the past couple years so i'm pretty sure its alpine this year too. as for putting speakers in the rear doors, i think it would be fine(cause my friend has it like that in his A4 n it sounds fine), but i think mohawkboom would disagree. i guess it depends on your preference.

glassdome......

i finished my EX sedan & its great blaupunkt components on front & polk coax on rear.......here are the specs

1. front u need 6.5 but instaed of speaker adaptor i just use the old speaker as casing 'coz u cannot fit in ur 6.5 up front w/o modification

2. rear no problem........screw holes are not exact but some screws & washer will fix it up

all speakers are 6.5 or go to crutchfield for "WHAT FITS in my car?"

i got the DIY MANUAL from crutchfield for 2002 civic for 5 bucks +5 shipping & it helps a lot.....

happy upgrade dude.....

The HU is Assembled by Alpine..(all the info I could get) it puts our 12Wrmsx4 or 48Wrms 100 watts peak.

The Speakers are Produced By Pioneer and can handle a whopping 20Wrms before the little voice coils fry...

Adding Speakers to the rear doors wouldn't improve staging and may harm it. More sound will be coming from the rear and the sound will be produced well belower waist level which is a real no no for staging. Rear deck speackers are cool. But rear door.. No.. all competitors who's cars have stock rear door speakers never use them. and for good reason. For Audi's and VW passats and the like. The Manufacturer only had room to squeeze them there.

I Also have a Sedan and 6.5" speakers fit all around. The rear deck speakers you'll need some oversized washes with small center holes for them to hold in properly. If your Getting component speakers up front, The best Mounting location for the tweeters is in the A-Pillars... but the stock locations isn't too bad either. Componnets will give you the best sound staging. And if you van make the the rear speakers have a lower sensiivty than the front speakers. This way the sound will seem more like it's coming fron in front of you. If you need any more product or planning help give us more Idea on what kind of sound of you want and we'll do our best for you.

Cheers
Mohawk
