Has anyone heard of the Crime Stopper Alarm?
I am going to get an alarm installed and i am limited to money and one place told me they can install a Crime Stopper 2 way alarm w/o RS in my car for about $219 or $229. Lifetime warrantyu on work and alarm except the remote. Is that good?
Thank you,
David

nope bad deal, alarms are the highest mark up in ice if you go to a dealer you can probably haggle down to about 200-250 for a viper r clifford with 2 way, install and lifetime warranty. alarms are like 80 point deals. i have sold viper 791 at 89 points before. i mean we would charge 20 for a hood pin and the hardware is 25 cents and you need to run the wire thru the fire wall for the siren anyways.
but i would recomend calling the store 1st and ask em straight up if they will take the deal. i know mobile 1 and audio express are in texas and they are a money hungry company who can get vipers cheap. but dont expect to get it done on a weekend.

I called several places.
Best Buy, the lowest was i think $279.00
Circuit City was about the same.
Earmark wanted $450+
Catoys wanted $350+
Is there a trick on get them to go lower on the alarm?

-try at the end of the month because the smaller shops like tweeters, car toys, audio express, mobile 1 auto sound, quality auto sound are trying to hit their goals from corporate. try between the 25th-31st if you wait till the 31st they may be so far from goal its not worth it for them to do it.
-also calling multiple locations helps. i worked at audio express in the nicer side of town and we would never work the deals that the audio express in the bad side of town was working. they had the same quality of installers i mean the installers transferred from the more expensive stores to the cheaper location.
-Be willing to have it done on off days and willing to give em more than enough time. like a tuesday at 8am and dont need the car back until 6 pm.
-Remember these guys are money hungry competitive salesman if you put $250 infront of em long enough one guy in the store will adventually take it.

if you want your car to catch fire. I am a salesman. that means i know what it does and how to find out what it needs to do what it does. but asfar as actually doin it i wouldnt touch a alarm for anything.
If you planning to do it yourself is not gonna be easy, unless if you have an idea about wiring or doing any electric work on cars.
Alarm is very easy and they don't have to many wires to hook up, al the wires that you needs are: Power, ground, siren, parking lights, door sensor or trunk or hood, power lock and unlock and an stater kill if this one has that feature.
That's the basic for alarm, remote start that's another story.
But anyway I'm here if someone need help to do any car audio and video installation.
Good luck!!!
About Car Alarms brands or price!! Well I have been working on alarms for a while and The only thing I can say is the all of them do the same, main differents are channels, Built in relays, and features.
About lifetime is not true, trust me because if you have a problem with your alarm in a couples of moth or years you have to pay for it either labor or any additional parts is not free plus if you take the alarm to a dealer they gonna send you to the place where you got it.
About reception depend on the area or location, but regular or basic alarm they normally work on a range like 100 or 150 feet.
This for brands like Viper(or any DEI Alarm),Autopage,Crime Stopper,Black Widow,Mannix,All Omega, all audiovox and any other cheap brand.

sador - is crime stopper a good alarm?
I would be the alarm myself, i am an electronics engineer student, but I just dont have the time. I just had a kid and i am a full time student and work full time so i just dont have time.
i am just looking for basic alarm w/ 2 way that if someone attempts to break into it again i will know about it before they take anything.
but so far it looks like i will be taking my car to best buy, frys or that place that will install the crime stopper alarm.

Crime Stopper is good, like I said all of them do the work; what you need is a good installer to make it work right.
Best buy or Circuit City installer socks even when they said there are MECP certified, but of course not all of them are like that but 80% of them are.
I said this because I have a lot of costumer complaining about installation from them that I have to fix.

I will just go with the Crime Stopper. they have the besty deal and I asked around and they seem to be a good company and brand. some said the range is a little weak. Thank you sador!
The place was a local place that did it for me. I also got the battery backup as well. I know I paid too much at this point. Im gonna try to get him to give me the window rolldown mod for free at this point.
If this helps i am picking up a compustar with remote start installed with every accessory for my 05 civic coupe for 299 installed. Compustar is godlike. Don't get screwed and pay too much.

the worst one for me was the dodge trucks. it wasnt the truck it was the customer. trying to explain to the redneck why he needs to give me his key and how he may never see it again. i remember one time the customer wanted to be in the car as we placed the module in the dash just to show him it wasnt stolen.
When i was in high schoola nd i interned at a shop they made me show an old guy with too much money how to use his compustar. i wante dto shoot myself but him first. Some people are so retarded. And teh worst are the poeple that try to walk in teh garage and hurry you. It doesn;t sound that bad but after a while it gets so annoying when you are workinga nd they ask questions and want you to hurry a job.
Hey Nick 95673 If you want to save problem with costumer what you need to do is get a Bypass or Passlock 1 & 2 & VATS without the needing of a spare key, That way you are out of that headache.
They do have in the market for a 99% of the car so try to get those.
Good Luck
