questions on my connection of 2 12 inch subs to my stock unit
alright first off i would like to introduce myself since this is my first ever post on 7th gen.. my name is steve difruscia, im from montreal quebec, and own a 2001 civic si (lx amercan model). Not to long ago i saw a post on how it was possible to connect subs and amp to hondas stock unit.. This past weekend me and my bro, hooked up 2 12 inch subs and amp to my unit.. We used 8 gauge wiring for the wires and connected the Rca to the cigarette/ignitor.. Everything is connected and grounded, but yet for some reason when i play certain songs i get the bass pumping and other songs i get no bass pumping.. I also noticed that more power seems to be coming from one side than the other... Does anybody know what the problem is??? I really dont understand how one song i can hear my bass from the other end of the street and than the next song my stock rear speakers are pumping more than the subs???? anywas if anybody can help me out it would be appreciated.. thanks guys

we really need more info on how you hooked up your system for us to heko you. info like what grounding points you used, if you used a hi to low converter, etc. we need a lot more info to figure out what exactly is wring with it.

Im kinda confused on what you tried to do
Normally, if you installed system with stock head unit you would need an "in line converter" for the rca cables to amp. 1) did you make sure your connections are correct for the subs ex. positive to positive negative to negative. 2) is your gain turned all the way up, if so try turning it half way or alittle over half 3) are you bridged? We could help more with proper info

I also made sure my connections were correct for the subs. positive to positive negative to negative. My gain at the moment is turned all the way to the max is that maybe why im losing power because its to much , chould i try turning it down a notch... And thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it..

O.k. first, your power wire to the amp (the big red 8 guage)is that running to your battery?<---hopefully fused!!!
2nd your remote turn on wire, is that running to your lighter(the smaller wire to turn your amp on)?
3rd how long are amps ground?(the big wire from amp to the body)<---and it should be at least 8 guage the same as your power wire, and no longer then 18"s but as short as possible. From there I can help you, let us know....

what do you mean the amps gain??? that there is not enough juice in it.. Im running a 760w amp i think it should be more than enough but than again im no pro at this...
No the dial on the amp that seems like a volume ****, its actually a called a gain, its there so you can match the input of the amp with the output of your radio. If you have it up all the you may have problems, anything past 3/4 is distortion anyway.
