didnt pay for it yet. the guy that owns the shop is a friend of mine, he's letting me "test drive" it. it was just wasting space, no one buys these units in the area.
i think retail is $1800, they sell them at MAP price of $1650.
i prefer the look of it compared to flip out monitors, looks more OEM.

i bought the special edition EX dash from the honda dealer for $75, it was expensive. i couldnt use my existing dash piece because i already mucked it up, fiberglassed it and its only a din opening now.
you dont have to use the special edition dash, you can use your dash piece and fiberglass it or something.

sorry guys, i went to the place that sells plexi today, and it was closed again. i called them and they should be open tomorrow (as per their voicemail), so hopefully i have it done tomorrow.
will definately take pics when its done.
btw, i checked pricing on the unit, its $1900 retail, $1700 MAP.
the higher end 5495 (just like mine, but with a built in hard drive) is $2400 retail and $2100 MAP.

Man thats sweet...
Do you have to do the e-brake thing to watch dvd's? and is there any type of security feature to make the unit unoticable?
Edit - Also, do you know or have you tested it to see if it can play DVD-R's?

here are some pics with the plexi trim ring in place: http://slickssite.com/AVN2/
i just grounded the wire thats suppose to go to the e-brake, dvd's play while driving. i dont know what you mean, making the unit unoticeable? if you mean something like a detachable face, nothing like that. what you see is what you get. eclipse uses ESN for security, so you can program it to a specific CD, if the power is lost to the deck, the only way it turns on is if the CD used to program the deck is inserted, otherwise it wont turn on, ever. eclipse also offers one year theft gaurantee. if the deck is stolen within the first year of ownership, and you provide a police report, they will replace the deck.
i dont know if it plays DVD-R's, i dont even have any. a friend of mine has a bunch of burned DVD's, i'll borrow one from him and give it a try.

i'll probably buy it. i got the unit from my local shop, they let me take equipment and test it out, or use it without paying. they are cool with me, they know i can afford whatever i take and have no problems.
i think i will buy the unit, but the real test will be when my new components arrive, how this unit sounds with them compared to my clarion drz9255 (which is basically a pure SQ unit). if the sound is good and its hard for me to notice a difference, i will keep the AVN. otherwise, i will probably just use the AVN this summer, and sell it or something.
