Pondering pioneer
I'm looking at Deh p8mp, P860mp, and possibly Alpine CDA 9853.
Question is, is the the 60$ between the p8mp and the p860mp worth it? Do i really need the special speaker timing and all the other stuff? What is pro mode and how useful is it?
I will get an external amp/sub/new speakers down the line, but i'm not a crazy audiophile and won't spend thousands on the best stuff ever. I just want good strong SQ.
so i'm wondering if i should just buy a cheaper deck like p770mp or CDA 9851 ($60 cheaper than p8mp) and just spend the extra money on an amp or other?
What do you guys think?

So does anyone have experience with any of these decks? I'm really wondering if the 13 band equalizer and all of the other stuff on the deh p860mp is worth the extra cash or if the money would be better spent on higher quality speakers or amp.
It depends on what other equipment you'll be using. I personally use excellent amps with excellent crossovers and I use Defeat on my Alpine head unit which means that all internal processing like eqs and such are off. If you use cheap quality amps like Audiobahn or sony or something, than it'll probably do you a world of good to have eq, even if it's only 13 band.
defeat? you mean "flat eq"? if so, then I got it
although my pioneer does something better than just defeat. it has a mic that calculates phase shift for all 4 speakers, and it also creates a flat eq for my car based on my car's dynamics. I gotta admit, it works pretty f***ing good. I bought all my stuff from ikesound.com, they're pretty cheap. And I wouldn't call audiobahn amps cheap. maybe sony, but I've found their amps to be just fine. nothin quite like a kenwood or a jl, but I'd say audiobahns are definitely good amps for what you pay. I have a friend with a 100% audiobahn setup besides the head unit, and I think it sounds pretty sweet. I have infinity components in the front and the rear. I used to have 2 JL W3V2's, but a short in the ignition wire blew out my head unit and both subs.

do you have the p8600? I thought about it but i don't know if it was worth the extra money... any extra i spend on a deck is less i have to spend on amps so i thought maybe the auto sound thing was a little extravagent. but i don't know.
