remote start question

a few friends have been looking into the different options for alarm systems and we ran into this question. how would you go about setting up a sysetm in which you could press a button for the remote start, get in the car and drive away without ever needing to put the key in the ignition?

i'm starting to suspect it can't be done because the ignition needs to be in the second position for the car to shift out of park. other than that, is there anything stopping this from working? i know remote starts only run for so long, but can't that be changed?

that would require bypassing almost all the safety features built into remote start systems, pretty dumb imo

yea i have remote start and when you use it to start the car the alarm is still on, until i put the key in the ignition.... you should have that safety feature so you dont have to worry about someone taking your car

you could wire the car so you can do a push button instead of a turn key. You just have to use some relays and stuff. You basicly need to latch the second position and send a signal down the ignition wire to start the car. The easiest way would be to put in two switches. One for position two (a toggle switch or something), and a second momentary for the ignition. Click the switch to turn on power to the car (position two). Then hold down the momentary button until the car starts.

I have lots of ideas on ways to do this but I haven't realy thought through all the details and its possible I might have missed something.

Heck. the ignition switch is just a switch. The only difficulty is dealing with the imobilizer chip but that isn't that big of a deal.
