I can't remeber which company it is off the top of my head, but either DEI or PIE make a box that will fix that...the part actually can be used for few different things, but that is one of them. It connects to the line that would normally go to your parking brake.

You can easily wire them so that it allows you to watch movies while driving.
Mine required you to tap into the - wire for the e-brake signal wire so i just grounded in the harness and its never ever once had to stop playing a movie cause its grounded 100% of the time. easy easy solution

so to recap: yes you can watch movies while driving it takes about 5 seconds to fix and you can do it well before the DVD player is ever installed. dont buy a box or anything, if you cant figure it out PM me or something.

its federal law that if it is in the drivers view you "should have it wired to the e-brake and it pulled up in order to watch anything", now on the other hand i'm like others but have a hidden switch in my ground loop just in case I get pulled over for it.

Apparently you don't know your head from your ***. Can you read English? Pioneer's own website dedicated to this unit says clealy that the gyro used in the brain module determines when to shut off the video from playing at the speed of 3 mph. So you can sit anywhere you want and watch video all day long, but when your car breaks 3 mph, it shuts off until you stop and re-engage the screen from safe mode. If you feel you are confident enough in your own skills (which by your lack of understanding anything is doubtful) to mess with a gyro and attempt to bypass and hope you don't **** it up and have Pioneer tell you "you ****ing idiot, why'd you **** with the brain unit?", then go ahead and do it. By the way, if you are watching a movie and have an accident, I hope you rot in jail forever.

Love, this guy.

no i did mine but the cruise control button's bulbs are too small and my iron just broke today. at least i installed the switch for the "e-brake" wire on my HU so that if i get pulled over i could just tap the switch.

Talking to our pioneer rep, the N2 will not allow you to watch video while driving because of the gyroscope. However, there a couple ways to get around this, don't hook up the gyroscope to the VSS sensor. In doing so you loose your vehicle diagnostics function and your navigation may not be as accurate but it will work. For instance, going up a mountain road or what not may show you a little ahead of yourself but it will correct automatically.

Finally, there are allready some software cracks on the market for the N2. This is coming from the Pioneer rep. However, he would not give me a name of a site but he said they are out there allready. I haven't been able to get some time to search for these and since I'm still using the N1, not a concern for now.

Hope this helps and clears up some confusion about the new N2!

the VSS wire is an option to make it more accurate when using assumed positioning, i.e., when using the gyro. the gyro is not something you can just "not use". it's used automatically by the vehicle dynamics mode when driving and also to assume your current location and continue on your designated course while you may not be connected to a satellite. so if what you say is true then when you don't hook up your VSS wire then you'll also lose the vehicle dynamics mode and the g-force readings won't show up.

If someone responded to you in this way I think most if not all of you would be a little ticked off too.

Most people tend to read this negatively because he seems to come off as a sarcastic know-it-all.

From reading this thread it would appear that I am the only one that has presented even a slight suggestion on how to defeat this feature on the N2. I'd be interested in hearing how you can supposably defeat this feature if someone wants to speak up instead of standing on someone elses comments.

I thought this site was for constructive critism and information, not a bash job on someone!

I guess, I would just like to hear what others have to say about how to defeat this feature since it's so well known how to do it.

The VSS wire is what helps you assume your current location when a satelite signal is lost. The Gyroscope is used to help accomodate for driving at different angles. For instance when traveling up a mountain you aren't necessarily traveling as far forward on the maps as it would appear, by using the gyroscope to accomodate for the increased angle it helps to properly indicate where you are.

i think its pointless because say you have gps or something in your car and what are you not supposed to look down at the map to make sure you know where your going versus a movie?

you can only get local broadcast TV stations in your car if you buy a TV tuner but that was a video-cd of music videos
