New Infinity Setup

ok....im finally getting into the audio system stuff.....heres what im thinking about putting in per advice from ppl......4- 6 1/2" Infinity speakers, Alpine or Pioneer deck (nice one like $200 or so) 2 amps (one mono and one with 4 outputs to keep consisten ampage and wattage), and a 12" infinity subwoofer with q-logic housing. I'm trying to keep this at $1,000 or under....any advice for better stuff?? (keep in mind im not looking to blow my **** apart, just for good powerful sound, but that i can be proud of....something really nice, but not way too extravagant). My main concern is whether extreme bass will hurt the car....one guy on circuit city.com was talking about how his brother rear-view mirror got blown off cuz of it....i just dont want my woofer to kinda make things rattle and break stuff apart over time....like i dont wanan ruin the integrity of the car.....any advice and commentary is greatly appreciated!! (im not a newb in audio, but ive never had a car system, but i know my **** lol....i.e. RMS power vs. Max output!! ) holla at me!!

Go with one or two Kappa perfects 12 inch
As for headunit, I would suggest Alpine 9827 or 9831. Also, they came out with the new alpine line up, so you can get the old ones for dirt cheap off ebay. I would say to build your own box for the subwoofer, or if you don't have the time and tools, just get a prefab sealed box. Kappa perfects will sound good in any box. I have 2 12 inch Perfect VQ's in a sealed box, and it sounds really really nice. Great sound quality, and if I want to crank it up, I can do that also without distortion.

Also, will having a powerful system kill gas mileage and/or ampage?!!?

Your car isn't going to fall apart unless you have obsene amounts of power (wattage). Gas mileage won't take a hit unless you add a **** ton of weight. The electrical system will take a small hit though. I recommend getting a good quality capacitor and an Optima yellow or red top. Getting a high-output alternator is another approach, but it can be pretty expensive. Hopefully this helps. And hit me up if you need my kappa perfects
