Try Clarion or Alpine. I have Clarion DXZ845MC it has Aux, Sub control, and DVD control as well if you would like to add a dvd player in your system. I got it for $280 Canadian without tax (with tax It cost me $420 including Installation) at A&B Sound. That was during Boxing Week. I guess now their cheaper cuz Clarion have their 2005 line out now.

Oh another thing is don't buy a SONY hu. Its not worth it. The best affordable HU's out there are Alpine, Pioneer & Clarion. Good luck!

$280 is pretty good too...the 845mc is pretty good bang for the buck...

heh, i grabbed mine brand new for under $300cad w/ extended waranty....

absound sold the demo models for $251cad+tax during clearance time but i managed to get a better deal..hehe...the 745MP was the same price...

the clarion is cheap to buy and packs plenty of power; not to mention that it's also one of the few HU's that are closer to the stock look.

I think eclipse is pretty expensive here in Canada. I checked out a few eclipse when I was searching for hu's and they cost around $400 and higher. That was last year I don't know this year if they went lower.

I think eclipse is pretty good too but a bit expensive.

Their entry level mp3 decks are from $150-300 USD. The high end models are very expensive tho.

Tell me about it. I wish I were rich as well.

Are you lookin' for just a cd player? or an mp3 cd player?
If you just wanna hook up a cd player there lots out there that's in your price range. Now if you want it with mp3 of course its gonna cost you a few bucks unless you wait for a sale.

the way the economy's going in the US, I'm surprised there's still a gap between the two.

edit: also, the best way to buy cheap electronics is to make a friend who works at an electronics store. i get my stuff for nearly their cost.

^^^My friend used to work at a cambridge sound works. Once a year, he could order direct from kicker on acomodation. He got, no ****, 75% off. They usually limited it to one car's worth of reasonable stuff, but he called and asked if he could do his and his wife *me, hehe* and they said yes. I got 2 10" solobarics, 2 ZR600s, 1 ZR460 for like $520 . 2 grand worth of **** for like $500

Paradox, I'm guessing that's a typo on VTechgrl's link where it says Pioneer Premier DEH-P650 headunit. I think she means DEH-6500, if so, that's a great solution for you. 3 preouts, aux, etc.

Oh, my bad, I thought it was the other way around for Pioneer. You know, higher model number = premier. Silly me. Good HU for you Paradox

Yo turbo you really hate this hu don't you

Why don't you get a new one with a much better interface. I think Alpines has a better interface. Most people here like it a lot but I've never had alpines.

Oh by the way man I now understand what you were saying about the random thing. I didn't even notice that before

i dont hate it. it's very good hu for the price i paid. for the same price as the clarion, i would have only been able to buy a crappy model alpine. i'd love to have a cda-9833 but those cost a lot more.

just sucks that clarion managed to screw up such a simple little feature. btw, have you guys noticed that music catcher quality sucks? i've stopped using it because it sounds pretty bad.

Yup, I personally think that Alpine has the best interface too. Wouldnt trade my 9833 for anything
