Viper 791XV question
I just had the Viper 791XV installed on Saturday. Well it's was about 2:30am on Sunday morning, I'm sitting in the living room watching a movie, the responder sitting all by it's lonesome on the coffee table. It beeps, I look at it, and it shows that the car started, so I look out the window and sure enough the parking lights are flashing ever 4-5 seconds.
Anybody know what this might be. It took me totally by surprise. I mean it will only run for 12 minutes if I'm sleeping and I dont hear it, but still I don't want my car to do this all day Sunday. Is it possible somebody else has the same alarm and running on the same freq as me? Or can it be a wiring problem. I went to a authorized Viper dealer. The only thing that took them a while to figure out was putting the Honda bypass module on, since the Honda I have uses the keys that have a chip in them.
Thanks in advance for any help. If the place is open tomorrow I'll be going back, otherwise I will be there Monday. I think they messed with the rear passenger side window wire too, because I can't lower that window from the seat itself or the master switches on the driver panel either.

Well I think I just fixed it. I started reading both the manuals, the user manual and the installation manual. But ofcourse both conflict with each other. It sounds like it was in Timer mode. It happened at 2:30 am, at 11:30 am I did a remote start to show my roommate the system. Well the installation manual say's if I push the AUX and the * buttons at the same time it starts the timer mode until I repeat that action or put the ignition, with the remote start system not operating, to on. I got the 4 flashes of the parking lights.
Now the ower manual say's by pressing the ARM and DISARM buttons at the same time turns on Timer Mode. But to exit timer mode, the engine must be on. But I guess I'll see in another 2 1/2 hrs if it starts again or not! haha

sounds like you just got the system. anyways, you turn off the RS remotely... dont do that, itll go into timer mode and starts up every 3hrs or so.
when you remtoe start and want to turn it off, either leave it until time out or go into the cabin and press the brake to shut it off.
btw, theres no way to turn off the timer mode.

You can definately turn off the Timer mode, you just have to go into the programming options using your Valet/Program button. I think it's like the 3rd menu. I programmed my Viper 791XV to keep the parking lights to stay on constant instead of flashing when remotely started because the flashing lights look dumb.

But profuse007 - you can turn off the timer. You don't need to go into the programming menus at all. If you go into the cabin and turn the ignition to on, that will turn off timer mode, until the next time you start timer mode, by pressing the ARM and DISARM at the same time to remote start. I did exactly as the manual did, and it works, my car hasn't started buy itself since that one time.

if youer to read it again, thats what i stated.
i meant theres no way to permanently disable the timer mode.
btw, theres no programming to disable it, you just have to temporarily shut off the RS by triggers (brake, hood, etc..).
