how many ft i need?
wanting to hook up an 2ch amp for my components. amp is gonna be placed in trunk and wires from there on to the front door panels. total of 2 speakers, any estimate of how many ft i would need? btw, i never amped up car speakers, just subs. so when wiring, would i wrap the actual speaker wire copper around the coil(s) and slap on some electrical tape?
another ques: should i go with 12 gauge or 16 gauge wires?

You'll probably need about 15-17ft for your power cable, 15 ft for your rcas and remote, and 30 ft of speaker wire. 16 gauge should be fine but you might as well use 12 because it looks better. I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "wrap the actually speaker wire copper around the coil(s)".. ??
Just connect them with female quick disconnects and you'll be good to go

You basically have two options here:
1. run your speaker wires from your trunk to your HU in your center console, then patch them into the factory harness and use the harness connected to the factory speakers. (This is what I am currently doing)
2. Run the wires along the side panels near the carpet, and then up into the doors through the wire bundle grommets in the dash and doors. (This is the best way to wire them, if you have the means.)
BTW: I use 16g wire in all my non-subwoofer applications, including the 100x2W to my 6x9's - but that's only about 18" of wire each.

I'd use 12-14 gauge because of the long run and line loss. For connecting, go out and buy some female spade connectors (you'll need two sizes as the positive and negative terminal's are different size. Your local audio shop should sell you just enough, or give them to you.
