which sub should I get??

I'm going to be upgrading from my Polk Momos this week, but I'm still undecided which sub to get. I can either get the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 or the Infinity Kappa Perfect12 VQ. Since I work at C.City, I can get them for a substantially lower price, but I'm undecided between the two. Should I spend the extra dough for the VQ?? sensitivity is better on the cheaper one, and frequency response is also lower. I'm really undecided. Help out a fellow 7thgen member. Here's the link for the regular Kappa Perfect: link
and here is the link for the Perfect VQ: linky2
money is really not an issue, since the difference between the two after discount is about 30 bucks. I can live with that, but I'm not sure if there's any reason why I should pay more. BTW, I have 400 rms for each sub

03HondaCivicEX is an unknown quantity at this point
I'd go w/ the normal Kappa perfect. unless you plan on doing different enclosures and messing around with it, then go w/ the VQ. but if you just want some subs and put them in your car w/o screwing around with it all, just go with the kappa perfects. I have a friend that is not at all dissappointed with them. VQ i think sounds great on paper but are you really going to mess with them that much to tweak it and take the insert in and out etc. its all up to you and what you plan on doing w/ it

Fletchman04 is on a distinguished road
i think you should not go with either of those subs. get one JL 12W7 off ebay or something. i have one of those beasts and it is simply amazing. you will have to get a bigger amp but its worth it. clean sound and it hits real hard... the best buy i can think of. i've got an MTX801D running to it and thats just barely over the bottom of the comfort power range for the sub. it can handle 1500 continuous. get something nice that will last for a long time that you will be happy with.

I'll have to pass on that considering I have a dual chamber box that I'd like to keep. Also, I can get the Perfect for 70 bucks brand new. W7 would run me about 500 and a new box.

radioactive77 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
i have 2 kappa perfect 12's, and i love them, and just get the perfects not the vq's. they will save you 30 dollars each, since the vq's are 110 each, the only thing i like better on the vq's is they have the tinsel leads woven into the spider. but both subs will play the same one wont be louder then the other.

They are definitely different subs. The VQs have greater Excursion. They also use a magnesium matrix cone which might slow transient response depending on the weight but will almost definitely make a very noticable difference in distortion levels at higher outputs.

BTW, where are you getting VQs for 110?

I am getting them with the circuit city employee's accomodations. I was gonna buy them yesterday, but it looks like both models are on backorder. Oh well, more time for me to think about it. BTW, do you have any clue why the sensitivity and frequency response is not as good??

i have heard and used both the sound the same , no nticeable difference. but if you want to get technical no subs sound exactly the same. but that dont matter dont get the vq's, you really dont need them, unless you need to make a weird box that requires you to mess with the q of the sub by using the insert pieces that come with the sub.

I was told by a friend who owns an audio shop that the infinity kappa's are not much better than the refrence but just alot more expensive. I have seen that those things can handle alot of power too.

Well, I got the VQ's. I should get them by tuesday or wednesday. My friend has the Perfects in his car, so I'll go ahead and do a comparison and a review, as soon as I break them in. Thanks for all your help.
