HU display visibility question
I bought a new HU with an LCD display. Well, because of the angle of the dash, I cant see the display for ****, the numbers fade too much. Are there any decent HU's out there that will work for me?

its the way our dashes are aimed. its not really horizontal, its more like slanted up a bit. so all HU's are gona have shitty glare i think.
i want to try getting a double din, and putting my alpine on the bottom. but nowhere sells that damn trim kit besides Autotoys.com and they charge 18 for the kit and 13 shipping. **** that.

heh, i wonder what would happen if you peeps took apart the faceplate then sprayed it with some antiglare coating or a thin layer of matte clear coat onto the shiny acrylic window...

try the antiglare spray coating

either mask off the faceplate very well or take the window off before spraying...

The least work, and cheapest way out is to use my DIY on flip flopping the HU and Pocket, plus it looks clean as well, and you don't have to have any skill with f.glass.
As for the availability of the kit, anywhere that sells metra kits can order it. Just take them a part number, or call them with a part number and tell them you'd like them to order it for you. If they won't do that, ask them for metra's 1-800 number, and call them yourself and order it direct (I don't have the number handy or I'd provide it).

there's no glare like you all are saying. It's the LCD crap. A regular display like the stock HU works fine at any angle. LCDs need to be seen straight on, just like an LCD TV. My question was are there any good HU's w/o LCD displays? BTW, the flip flop thingie is butt *** ugly imo.

That's interesting. You think changes the look to ugly by flipping it. I actually like the way it looks flipped, but to each his own. If glare is your issue, look into the Alpine 9835. The biolite display stays sharp all the time.
