cool, so this should be my last question for a while. Did they have any arrangement where you could purchase tools at a discount?

Actually, at least on the phoenix campus, the Snap On guy came every Friday and we could purchase tools.. The discount wasn't very big but he cut us deals on some things.. I got my Snap On butane soldering iron for $65.. not too bad considering it's Snap On so.. yeah if you have any other questions, let me know! I'll gladly answer them

a big box.. haha

Worst Buy, errrrrr I mean Best Buy! I installed there for a few months but then I came to the smaller shop that I'm in now... the pay is better but no benefits. But I like the work a lot better and I like the atmosphere just because it isn't a big corporation. But it just depends on what you want to do.. if you like doing head unit after head unit after alarm after head unit.. a big corporation is where its at. But to get noticed, to do more custom work, definitely a smaller shop. What is your personal preference?

i would much rather be doing more custom work and staying as far away from the corporate world as possible. But, after talking to most shops around here no one will hire without experience except for places like BB or CC

Did you ever think about a different sub or another sub? I too, have the JL Audio W3-v2s and I still have them in a sealed enclosure and I still hit 144. But I have two of them so that could make the difference between yours and mine. Although with your one, you should still be hitting close to 137ish depending on your enclosure and such. What amp are you running for your W3?
As for the elimination of the torsion bars. Yes, it gives a clean install.. but it's guaranteed not to win your trophies if you compete. I say, go for the floating amp rack. Another install I did was I made an amp rack out of 'glass and then lined the edges with aluminum rods.. Before I installed the rods, I used a router, and put a little tiny indent in the rod maybe 1/8th deep if that.. Then I installed the Street Wires Hot Wires in the indent. It accented the install nicely. The possibilities are endless.. haha got any other cool ideas?
The amp for the sub is the JL 500/1, should be no problem power wise

As it stands now it looks like the rear torsion bars will remain. I was wondering if it would be possible to "flip" my trunk. Mount the amps in the spare tire well, neon accents, fake floor w plexi cutout of the Honda logo, and then mount the spare tire (a space saver) under the rear deck? It may look a little funky, but your attention would be drawn to the amp rack/ sub and not the spare? Only 2 days to decide

Relocate the spare under the car is an option too.

Yeah, I thought of that too, but time may be an issue, so simple is better here.

It takes about 30 minutes to do, maybe an hour. Less if you have a method of cutting the plate that the screw tightens into out of the vehicle. I had to use a chisel to get mine out because I couldn't find my air hammer/chisel. Once that's done, you have 1 hole to drill. If you have a lift (which I had access to) it's very easy. If you don't, it'll be a bitch.

That's what my shop said too.. at first, they weren't even going to hire me at all just because I was only working at BB for a short period of time. But I kept on going in there every day talking to the sales guys, talking to the install guys, and most importantly, talking to the owner.. not necessarily about a job, but just becoming aquainted with them. And after about two months of that or so, I got the job.. I didnt even have to apply, I just told them that I wanted to work there and he said that he could see what he could do.. I stopped in a few days later and he said I could start that next week. In this business, it IS about experience.. but it is also about who you know and what type of business relationship you have with those people.

I think if you made a cover (so to speak) and put it in front of the spare tire, that would look a lot better.. make the cover so it covers the spare from top to bottom and from side to side in the trunk. But otherwise, that would be a pretty sweet install.. it might take about two days depending on how much time you put into it but if you do decide to do that, take pics!

did BB hire you right outa school, or did you have to negotiate it a little bit. And did you have to bring your own tools?

BB provided tools.. I started at BB as just a cashier but then I moved back to the install bay after a couple months when they had an opening. But once the supervisor back in the install bay heard that I was MECP certified, he gave me the job with no questions asked
