Front speaker grilles removable?
Front speaker grilles removable?
Is it possible to remove the front speaker grilles, or would they need to be cut off the door? I am thinking my speakers will sound a little better with the grille gone, and I don't really care if it looks good or not. I've got a 2005 civic coupe DX
There's no way you'd be able to physically hear any difference with your speaker grills on/off.. You might notice something different on an RTA but just by listening, you won't be able to hear any difference. But in answer to your question, you would have to cut them out. They are part of the door panel.. (At least I'm 99% sure they are.. someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Psychoacoustics.....they might sound better to you, but give it a week, you won't notice. You're better off looking good, it's really all a Civic is good for. But if you really want them off, cut away.

Well it is part of the door, and yes it will sound different. Try putting a large plate with some holes over a computer speaker and see how it sounds. I've tried to drill out the blocked holes to let more sound through, but didn't notice too much difference. You could cut it out and use grill fabric, but it might come out looking bad.
