Quick question about amp's remote wire.
I know normally the remote wire hooks up to the back of the head unit to turn the amp on/off but in my case i'm keeping the OEM headunit. I bought one of those line converters that taps into the back speakers and creates a set of preamp outputs. My question is where can I hook the amp's remote wire up to so that amp shuts off when I turn the car off? Thanks in advance.
I'm pretty sure you need to tap into the hu's accessory wire, ie the one that shows 12volts only when you turn the ignition to the "accessory" position. That should solve that problem. Keep us posted.
hmm...let me clarify...the accessory wire will show positive 12 volts in the accessory position, but will show 0 volts when the ignition is off...

hmm...I don't know. I guess maybe you could tap into another accessory wire for something else, but I wouldn't recommend that. Your best bet is to remove the hu and tap into the accessory wire there. It's a pain in the azz, yes, but I wouldn't want to make my amp a guinea pig for testing another accessory wire, if I were you...
