everybody with EL gauges....

ok so I installed mine today....everything is installed properly they light up...everything is nice....BUT...I can hear a the little transformer, and it chances tones and gets louder or quiter depending on the colour and intensity change....I checked everything and its all connected right...what do u guys think is wrong???? or is this normal???

I got reverse gauges by the way...the ones that only the numbers light up blue....they are Eurolite's...

basically i just wanna know if anybody gets this sound too

Oh boy. You don't know how annoying that gets in the quiet. I have 4 (yes four) inverter boxes packed behind there for my custom EL cable light. But to answer your question, yes it's normal. It changes tone when you change the colors. Remember that depending on the EL material, a voltage change will make it light up differently. You're "hearing" the voltage essentially. If you have the two tone, green is low voltage. High voltage makes it blue.

thank god, kinda...lol

Im lucky though because on the dimmer setting the blue from the gauges matches exactly to the climate control and all the other lights I have in my car that I changed to the blue LED's thanks to LEDautomotive!!! a couple of disgusting burns from the soldering iron later...my window switch, cruise control, sun roof, mirror defrost, mirror button, climate control and the indicators on the buttons are all BLUE!!!! and now my cluster is blue...

I FRIGGIN LOVE IT!!!! lol

The backlight is all EL string light, the needles are blue leds (two for big dial and one for small dial).
