Radio headunit HELP!
Radio headunit HELP!
This may be the wrong forum, but it is the one with the most readers,
I'm trying to change my factory headunit on a 04 sedan, i've gotten both plastic pieces by the center console and the cigarette lighter out, i've taken out both screw's under it, but now i can't seem to push out the radio console. When i push on the bar, the whole console moves but it does not come out.
I read both DIY's and it says to remove the HVAC panel first? is there a step that i'm missing after removing the two screws? Am i supossed to just pry off the trim under the defrost, ac, air-recirculate buttons? Thanks for your help.

You gotta yank the whole assembly out. I have an 01, but I don't think they changed too much since then. If you have the pocket under the radio, grab that and pull straight out. The first time getting it out is a huge bitch, but you can do it. Just try not to get really pissed and break anything.
lol that sounds fun. So you mean to stick my hand right on top of where the two screws were and pull really hard there? Is there any other method other than the brute force method? WHen i try now, the whole thing budges and shakes, but does not come out, are there actually clips behind the console as the link on top says? Thanks alott

thats what the bottom piece looks like (from the back so you can see where the clips are)

thats the hole... also so you can see where the clips are.. yer best bet is to just wrap a screwdriver in tape and gently pry it out
and while yer at it.. might as well start painting stuff..

just a queation, so when your installing the headunit, you just plug the harness into the connector it looks like then attache the free wires to the headunit is that right?
You connect the wiring harness you buy for the car to the wiring harness that comes with the radio. Then you plug one end of it into the cars radio harness and the other end into your radio.

Me too! Thanks alot guys, i didint know there were clips that held the whole piece in. we (my friend and i) used a butter knife to pry the whole thing out. Include the pic with the entire console out in the diy (versioin 2) so others could see that they're held in with clips.
Thanks for everyones help~!!
