I need a new Sub
Ya....so a couple weeks ago I was defending audiobahn here on the site but one can only get so much of that super loud boomy sound before he wants to listen to quality music on a quality sub that sounds good at all volumes and has a big range. the audiobahn doesn't quite do that.
I was wondering what you guys might pay if you were to buy this sub from me - because im trying to sell it here locally and i dont' know how much to ask for it. I've only had less than 2 months and i would sell it with just the sub and grill. I paid 170 for the sub + 40 for the grill so thats 210. how much do you guys think i can get for it?
second question is about sound quality. i listen to a lot of accoustic stuff, incubus, sublime etc (on the way to work, early in the morn) but also listen to stuff like (un accoustic) sublime, slightly stupid, dubcongress, like....reggae/rock. i also like to bump rap or something really bassy during the weekends/when i see hot girls (lol jk but im not....eh...nm.) what sub would allow me to have a nice tight bass sound at low volumes - but also allow me to bump that shiat when i want to?? also - i cant stand when the sub bottoms out or sounds flat at some parts of the song and really bassy at other parts so i wanna avoid that.
I have a kenwood 800watt amp powering it.

JL audio. Im kinda the same way, I like my rock, but occasionally like to pound some rap, hip hop, and all that stuff. I have 2 JL 12W3's each powered by their own amp. its a nice setup. but W0's would be just as good for the purpose u want them for.
Diamond Audio, Xtant, JL Audio, Boston Acoustics are my favorite SQ subs. Even the JL Audio 13W7.. I ran an impedance curve on it and the resistance hardly changed at all. I was suprised that such a monstrous sub was so accurate. I'm not saying go out and buy one because it's not very cost efficient but I just thought I'd throw that in there.

JL is reknowned for their sound quality, but, the question is, do you really want to spend that much on a sub? From what you have now, I'd be willing to guess that you don't want to spend more than $200 or so on a sub, maybe more. Being as you're wanting SQ, and be able to have the punchy bass associated with rock music, plus beb able to pound it occasionally with rap, I'd say a 10 at the smallest (if you didn't listen to rap/hiphop, I'd be more inclined to say an 8). The 10 will give you the in between from an 8 and a 12. Were I shopping, I'd probably get a single IDMAX 10. If you wanted something different (being as I don' use Kenwood, so I don't know if they actually do their rated power or not, nor how efficient they are) you could go with a pair of IDQ 10's, or maybe a single or pair Diamond 10's, or a Resonant Engineering 10 or two. Any of those will give you good SQ at a more budgeted cost than the JL's. For comparison's sake, the IDMAX will at least perform along the same lines as JL's W6 series (IMO), and possibly be comparable to the W7 series, yet at a more budget friendly price.

Volfenhag! You guys have probably never heard of it but it hits hard when you want it too but I have it set for more acoustic and rock. Its a clean hit too. I love it and you guys should check em out. I run 2 12"s and a 1200 watt power acoustik amp. Good set up, out of all my friends that have heard em all of them have gone on to buy volfenhag for themselves!
And they arent that expensive. Pics of my set up are coming up sometime this weekend.
