Rockwood amps?

OK, I just got a Rockwood Detonator 300w amp, it's gonna push my JBL's for a few days, see how they sound...any ideas on quality of Rockwoods? I mean, is this gonna sound like crap if I crank the gain up, or is this actually just a decent amp I've never heard of?

Just so you all know....I paid $15 for it. Got it from a friend, gave it to me for the price he paid for it. He bought it blown as a repair project, I've heard it in a house system, and it's not bad there...but with a much smaller cabin space, I'm kinda in the dark.

I never heard of Rockwood, but I had to chuckle reading it. They're really trying to use Rockford's name to advance their own. Oh well, hope it works out for you because $15 for an amp is like atleast 80% cheaper than any subwoofer amp out there.

I had a buddy with a Rockwood amp. Pure junk. Lots of distortion. Lots of heat. Nice paperweight though.

lol....guys, gimme a break here, it was $15. I know about the heat, otherwise he wouldn't have replaced the bottom plate with a fan rack. lol.....8 40mm fans across the bottom, heat's not a problem anymore.....as far as distortion goes, I wasn't expecting too much for $15, so it's no big deal.

back in the days of no money and budget car audio, I had a Rockwood cassette deck. Nothing that great, but it worked......

And that's all that matters to me. Keep in mind that my stereo is a Pioneer din.5 unit mounted to the bottom of the glovebox with industrial door hinges.
