what's a good replacement for stock door speakers?
what would be a good replacement for the stock door (6x9?) speakers? i have the stock cd player and just want a good pair of speakers, because i think one of them are blown. i don't plan on buying anything else like amps, tweeters, etc... i just want to pop them in and be done with.

First mod I did was replace just the speakers. I got some infinity reference and they sounded great even with the stock deck. Everyone could tell the difference.

Find something with a low rms rating, or find a wrecked civic and buy one out of there. I still have my stocks somewhere. If I can find them you can have them for $5 plus shipping. ($5 to cover me packing them so they don't get thrashed by the shatty **** postal cervix)

Coaxials have the tweeter on the midbass unit, components have separate parts and usually a crossover. Good components sometimes need more power to get going.
EX coupes have components, the tweeter is in the sail panel in the door. If you have one, it might be better to get some components, otherwise, i'd advise getting some efficient coaxials.

If you're not amping them, don't spend a whole lot of money on a component set, or coax. You'll be wasting your money as you won't get their potential out of them. I'd replace with stock, or something similar to stock, as you're gonna get about 12 watts rms off the stock deck per speaker. The components/coax's will be severely underpowered. Just get some cheap speakers to replace them or find a wrecked civic and use the speakers out of it.

I think the new Alpine S, 6.5" come with a spacer specifically for our car...I could be wrong but I think Im right...
also, I amazed, I've had my stock speakers amped w/ my Alpine MRV-540 with the gains at a little over 0 and they still have not blown...and I get them to go loud sometimes

a hell of a lot better than stock thats for sure. right now i dont have an amp so im just runnin them off my hu. the woofers hit pretty hard for the amount of power they get. its alot more clear than the stock pioneers. cant wait to get an amp for em though. i got a 12 inch sub in the trunk and they compliment it perfectly. i bought em on ebay new for 99.95 + shipping so they were like half price. great speakers for the price. im sure i could get some that are better and spend 3 times as much, but these fit perfectly and i cant really tell a difference between them and my friends type r.

I run infinity reference speakers and they are great. Really hold a quality sound even at a constant loud. Not much kick in 'em but my two 12"s take over that. They fit right into everything with no adapters too. Well mine did but who knows how badly I messed up on the install...but they still sound great!
if ur looking for a good sound, ive heard that the infinity kappas aere prettyd sweet. idk this from personal hearing but my buddy got all new speakers in his and he loves the kappa line. he got a HU and (2)6x9 and (2)6 1/2s for i think he said $550 att cardomain. he said he saver about $200 by doin it that way and plus they give you install instructions which is a nice bonus that best buy or some other place doesnt offer.
crutchfield sometimes will offer package deals like that and they send you the master sheet too. i downloaded it to my computer after i placed an order. it tells you how to put in the HU, door speakers, and the rear deck removal for those speakers too. its pretty nice, if anyone wants it i can email it to you, just let me know.
