Second deck stolen...
Alright, I just had my second deck stolen. This one was a JVC something or rather (the one with Pict...it kind of sucked).
What I want to know is WHAT is the best deck for me to get if I'm into getting the most out of AUDIO quality, and if I'm not into the fancy shmancy decls as much (Autopac is giving me 465$ Canadian for insurance....and I would like to stay in this range)
Anyone? I've had a Pioneer, and I really liked it. I had just gotten used to it when that one got stolen. This last one was a little tougher to use, and a little too fancy for my taste.

i think its time for you to pick up a used POS that looks nice and mount that in the dash... dont hook it up though.. then get a nice one that is something you want and mount it in the glove box or something...

Dude, they stole a faceless headunit. I doubt they would ignore jacking a nak...hehe. I think someone has it for your car. Do you have an alarm system? Maybe you should use some of that money to just install an alarm because it looks like you have an enemy.
Dang, what's up in Canada. I remember watching some movie or video showing how Canadians don't worry about thieves and how their houses are never locked.

lol............happened to me too
just a suggestion...use the double din installation...that way it's actually screwed into the rest of your dash...just remember to put back the 2 bolts/screws at the bottom...they'll have a tough time getting any HU outta your car then.

I took a small snowboard lock and physcially attached my deck to the bar behind the dash
go with the 9833..then for security run a 10 ga wire from the rear 5mm nutsert down behind the column frame to the bolts behind the cupholder/console. Only you will know where tio unbolt it, and if someone gets in the car, there is NO WAY they will be able to pull the radio/climate controls out of the dash. Worked like a charm for me for the last 10 years!

Nakamichi
Pioneer P8MP (I really am impressed with mine, after finally getting a chance to install it.)
I'd look at finding some way to secure the deck in the vehicle. Whether it be screwing the it to the stock basket, making a strapping system with some hvac strapping, whatever. And if you don't have an alarm, for god's sakes start looking into one.

You know. It might be cheaper to not even bolt it in. That why they just yank and get it. Otherwise they chew up your dash trying to get it out. Then you get to buy a new radio and get to pay the deductable on your insurance to get the dash fixed.

In my old car when I was on my second deck, I would leave it sticking out an inch. That way whenever I'm parking in the ghetto, I pull out the whole stereo and leave it home. It was practical since there's only one plug, but in my vic there are too many wires for me to do that.

I said Nak, but I also said the pioneer should he decide to secure it in the vehicle in a manner that would make it difficult to remove. That and the unit is just so freaking sweet.

Hey, thanks a lot for the help guys.
I've been looking around in Winnipeg, but I'm not sure where to find a Nakamichi. Obviously Best Buy won't have it (I've bought and installed my H-U's there), so I'm probably going to have to go to a specialty shop somewhere.
I really don't care about the flashy lights and colours anymore. My ex-girlfriend proved to me that girls don't care about what kind of deck you've got (Oh pretty! Can it play DVD's?)

Flashy decks are dumb, tho. Ok, mine has screen savers and stuff, but I never use them. I only got this one cuz it has absolutely every function imaginable. I leave the screen savers off (except in this pic) and just use the normal display function cuz it gives the most track info and is the least distracting then.
I guess screen savers or whatever are good if your car is in a show, but they're distracting when you're driving and some of them don't show all the track info while they're on.
PS. this is the best head unit ever (once you get it set up for your liking)
