what box do you have?
what kind of box do you guys have and what made you choose it over the other kinds? I have a sealed, and I got it mostly to save some space in my trunk.
I've got 2 JL Audio 10W6V2s a ported box. Only reason I have it is because it was a freebie. I probably would have built a sealed enclosure, why?
1. easier
2. not looking for the 3db +
3. not worried about upper bass frequency so much
4. I'm not capable of building a ported box with good enough transient response

I currently have ported (about a 5 cubic foot box tuned somewhere around 30hrtz). I had sealed before with the same subs...basically it sounds about the same, but the sealed had more output at higher frequencies, and ported plays the lower frequencies better in my current setup. I have 2 IDmax.

damn, that must be a huge box
5 cubic feet = huge??? Not really for that sub. Thats on the very low end of size for that speaker. It's recomended for 10+. I've seen one of those subs in the back of an suv with the whole back part as the encloseure. I think it was like 25cf. They keep gaining volume up to about that size of an encloseure. That sub is a REAL quality sub.

I have a few different subs and boxes. Currently, I have a single IDMAX 10 in a sealed box. I'm working on a sealed box for two IDMAX 10's. I also have Virtual Technologies snailshell ported box built to spec for the VT RIP Hammer 10 I have. I have a sealed box with a 10 W3v2 in it. I also have a ported box with a Comp VR 12. And the last one I have lying around here somewhere is an old Solobaric (the round one) in a sealed box I had in my truck.

I have a 12" Alpine Type-E in a sealed 1.00ft^3 box. I chose this box because:
1. Alpine recommended a sealed box between 0.7ft^3 and 1.7ft^3. People told me the smaller box you get the better SQ will be, and the 1.00ft^3 box that I have was the smallest widely-available sealed box I could find that would fit a 12" sub. It's just a generic box from Circuit City, but I think it sounds really good.
2. Smaller box = more trunk space.

my old setup...2 S12L7s in a dual chambered sealed .75" MDF box...Kicker's recommended specs for sealed box, still had some trunk space, bada$$ bass response...great box...
nah.....I was j/k. I am stepping up to 18"s tho and a combination of alpine, jl audio, and possibly mmats system. But that's for the summer so looks like i'll be listen to my intake for the winter. lol
I have 1 12 type r sub, but since all the generic boxes couldnt fit in the custom trunk i made, i had to go to a shop to get a custom box. I was surprised that it makes the sub hit harder. Custom box was expensive, but worth it
had 3 different boxes with 3 different setups
1. Prefab qlogic sealed with a infinty kappa perfect 12"
2. Custom built fiberglass box that fit behind the rear tire area within the trunk (passenger side) with a alpine type-r 10" sounded good....but sold it
3. Bandpass box with 1 apline type r 10" (thumped good but didnt care for it sold it)
now i am back to the original setup of the prefab box and the infinity.....it just does it for me not too much over the top and not to little
