I need a Stereo !
Hi,
Wifey wants to buy me a CD player for X-mas. Cuase my HX is rolling around with a stock Cassette Player. Only thing is that I use my Cassette Player. I have a bunch of Tony Evans Tapes I like to listen sometimes on my long drives. (He's a Preacher in Texas.) Any way I want a CD/Tape player combo or a Tape player w/ a CD changer. I'm going to be installing this myself, and I've never done a Stereo before so i was think a combo might be better. I can't find too many out there though.
I saw this one on Ebay, but I never heard of the Brand Before.

I'm not looking to spend a fourtune and have flip out screens with dolphins and race cars on it. I just want something this is a good quality, and I don't want to spend alot. (Let's face it, the Wifey's gift still comes from my wallet.)
I'm also very open to other suggestions.
Thanks

Well I am not a big fan of Pyle, they are definitely not a high end and well reputed brand, but that cassette/CD combo might suit you quite well, it's very interesting looking at least.

Haha that deck sucks. I saw it on display once and it was skipping
I think for you the oem cd player addon would be perfect. Then you would get to keep the tape player deck and just have a slot to stick a cd in the bottom.

did u search crtuchfield/sounddomain, etc?
I've see those bigger Clarion ones.. im not sure if it'd take up the deck area and lil under compartment or how big it is, they put one in a car on pimp my ride before.. I'd guess u should be able to find one for $200-$250 maybe?
places like best buy and circuit city run those free install sales if u catch it at the right time u can get it put in for free if u dont wanna hassle w/it..

Hey 4Jacks, the 1980's called, they want their tape's back!
Just kidding man. Realistically, there is not going to be many models for our cars because the tape and CD combos are generally Double DIN. Like Gearbox said, your only option appears to be adding an OEM changer or CD player that goes below your existing tape deck. You could also get a aftermarket tape player with a changer but that will probably be a little more.

Holy crap that deck is 4 x 100 watts? That must be peak. Do you know what the rms is?
Um, you might want to consider one that plays .mp3's, too.
How much do you want to spend?

tbaleno, You Rock Dude!!
I searched a little bit, and on the web they had some stuff for like $60. But then I remembered that my dad is converting all his LPS and reel to reels to Digital, so I gave him a Call and all he needs is a Walkman, and he'll Burn em for me.. .
So now I'm off to find a CD Player...

You might also want to consider a double din unit. I know Kenwood has one, but it's pricey. Pioneer used to make one, but don't know about now. Try some of these sites:
www.ikesound.com
www.sounddomain.com
www.onlinecarstereo.com
www.thezeb.com
www.woofersetc.com
Most of them include the dash kit and wiring harness. Make sure, if you do get a double din unit that you get the Metra double din dash kit (I don't think anyone else has one yet). And make life easy and get the wiring harness if it isn't included. Once you have the new deck, there's a DIY on here that will walk you through the install. Should any questions arise, you can always ask us.
