Post your EQ settings

List your deck and your EQ settings:

Pioneer Premier DEH-p860mp

I forgot the frequencies, so this is from lowest to highest:

+6
+5
+4
+3
+2
+1
0
+1
+2
+2
+3
+4
+5

BBE is on but set to 0.

All slopes set to 100Hz with -6db/Oct. Sub is at +3. On the amp the gain is at maybe 25% and bass boost is at 0. I have an amp volume **** that I can use to fine tune the volume.

For 99% of all types of music I've listened to, this setup sounds absolutely perfect. Every once in a while I have to use the amp's remote bass gain **** to turn it down a little if it's really bass heavy music, but other than that it's fine.

Strangely enough, many of the other settings I tried made it sound like it was obviously running through an EQ and didn't have very good SQ. Even when I set it to "flat" it doesn't sound balanced.

Ok, post your EQ settings.

sir, eq settings are things that are not the same for two people. theyre dependant on type of speaker, how theyre installed, whether or not youve sound deadened, how many speakers, and even factors such as how you sit in the car and how loud you listen to it, and most importantly, how YOU like your music to sound...

Yup. But I thought a thread like this might give some other people some ideas in case they weren't happy with their EQ settings.

Defeated means it doesn't use any EQ, right? So it's like flat pretty much?

It means that what comes out of my headunit is pure, unmolested. My amps handle crossing the freqs. Usually, good amps have more reliable xovers than head units. some use xovers from the head unit and xovers from the amps. Some shutoff the xover settings on the amps and hu and use aftermarket xvoers like audiocontrol or PPI. I personally stick to the KISS model and just use my JL Amps xovers which are excellent.

Read my profile for what I have, I dont feel like typing it

Sub Amp LP 100hz 24dB slope
Q 2
Center 45hz
Boost +10
Subsonic 15hz

High amp crossover on full range

HU LP varies according to what im listening to, anywhere from 31.5 hz with a 24dB slope to 65hz with a 6dB slope. I also adjust the attenuation according to what im listening to.

My speakers I adjust the HP on according to what im listening to as well, all the way down to 45hz (god I love QSDs) or up to 80ish. I dont attenuate my fronts, and I keep the slope at 12 most of the time.

I dont remember all my EQ settings...there are too many bands to remember off the top of my head, and I have two sets of settings; one for CD and one for XM.

-1 treble because my speakers are awfully trebly. Flat otherwise, except that occassionally my passenger side door rattles because of the bass (I need to fix that with fatmat-type stuff), so I turn down the bass if I am dying to listen to something that has too much of the right frequency to cause those rattles.

But as Ludlam said, EQ settings depend on the setup (except, of course, for those types of folks that boost their bass up all the way because it is cool to have loud bass). So I don't really see the point of this thread...

I have a Pioneer 5500mp.. Only 3 eq settings so I set it on default for powerful : 4-2-4... I have the sub on +1 and a HighPassFilter of 80 on my speakers so they dont blow when I turn it up.

are your kicks sealed?
that may be your issue. thats some serious boost in the midbass region. im not all that familiar with the 6w driver from the 165w set, only the 6w1 from my 165w3 set

If he's talking sound quality then yea boosting midbass may "sound" bad but be the flattest response. Have you guys heard some SQ vehicles. Some really sound like crap to me.
