Classic Amps

This thread is inspired by the post on ECA about the 10 best subs of all time...so i am asking what are the 10 best consumer amps of all time? This can be based on power output, cosmetics, quality, durability, innovative technology...etc.

I have always been partial to Rockford Fosgate's Punch series, particularly the 150 model. It's the perfect amount of power for the price and bullet proof. I wouldnt say they are the prettiest, as they are mostly designed for sound. You can power a nicer 12 or a pair of 10s with ease and gets lots of bass without bassing out your neighbors as you drive past.

Not only does it sport some serious power and quality, its a nice way to keep your rear end front sliding in the snow - at around 50LBS.

I know that there were all of those HCCA and US Amps for comps that could be wired to .5 ohms (and possibly below).

This thread is a total dud, so I will start this speaker one.

I recently had someone try to sell me that one...I wasn't even sure I would have been able to fit it in my trunk!!

It could probably be used as a tobogan if it ever stops working

Orion Hcca

I have to agree with some of the other people here and say Orions HCCA amps. They were built for high quality and can take one hell of a beatin!

I used to have a US Amps VLX 400 it was 44" long and was rated at 2400W.

Orion had a limited edition amp. It was factory rated at 1w but really made like 2k or someohting like that. It was a way to get around competitions that based classes on manufacturer power ratings.

PPI used to be the rage about 10yrs ago.

Old heavy black Pioneer amps ued to be kick @ss. Had, i believe, a GMX 50. it was supposed to be 50x2 but it powerd 2 15s no problem.

For some reason I still like the old school Rockfords, like early-mid 90's stuff. I still got one somewhere if I could only find it. They were under rated tons, and you couldn't kill them. My first amp matter of fact (I bought one someone had that was never used for $25 about 6 years ago) and a pair of new Kicker Solobarics 12's and crammed them in my Ranger. Sounded goodto me then, but would probably have been better had I been able to put them in a little larger box.

I've never heard one, but I think the Soundstream Human Reign series is pretty classic, I think everyone's heard of it and seen it.

I was so close back in the say to buying one of those cheater Orion HCCA i think it was 225 amp, something about being stable at .5 or less ohms. exciting.
