Awesome gauge install
Okay so I was bored today and decided to make something.... anything. Due to my love of cheesiness, I decided to make a gauge pod for my RMD (voltage display) out of cardboard. Here's a few pics of the fabrication and installation.

The fabrication almost done after hours of CNC work and machining

Rear view with holes marked to be machine drilled and supports secured to the face with titanium stapular devices.

Gauge pod installed after applying carbon fiber to the front.
A big thumbs up for a job well done.

nicely done, i like the sarcasm involved. we would get along well.
however, ever look at mobile specs line of accessories? we are an auth. dealer of their stuff. they make all kinds of terminals, d blocks, fuse blocks, etc.. with digital voltage meters. much nicer than PG and stinger stuff too. if you wanna see some pics email me.

Oh, absolutely
Who said manufacturers spec had something in there about not making a cheesy cardboard pod for the gauge?

Question here. If you were putting it in the dash, why not make life much easier, and it look a shjt ton better and order one of the dash panels from somewhere such as JC Whitney, Summit Racing Etc? It's a blank panel that goes on front of the glove box. You can cut out whatever you want out of it to mount gagues, etc. Yeah, I'm sure this was rather sarcastic, but still. They're made of abs, and you can overlay them in cf, or whatever.

I'd like to order a nice prefab gauge mount, but this is a square gauge and it probably wouldn't find, and I'm not made of money either.
If I really wanted a nice looking pod I would have use fiberglass but as you could imagine this isn't a permanent install

The panel I am talking about is blank. It covers the opening in the glove box (I said dash in my original post). The entire opening so it's like 6 inches by 1 foot (don't know the exact measurements) but it follows the contours of the opening of the glovebox. It makes it like there is no glove box rather you open it and it's just a blank panel (hard to explain). But you can cut out to shatever shape your gague is and mount it. It's made out of abs and matches the color of the abs in there already. It's maybe $20, so it's not real expensive. I'll see if I can find one and post a link.

Yes, there are holes in this one, it's for purposes of the picture. If you read, it comes blank and you cut your own holes out. They make them for our cars as well. Just an idea.

Im thinking about making an ABS panel and putting in my glovebox with 2 RMD's, one for my amp and one for my regular electrical system.

I just need to take the measurements to see if it fits.

you mean something like this???

it's cheap and I need to make a better one out of some proper material but it will work for now.
