Is this a shady warranty?
Here. It's for an eBay seller who sells the Pioneer DEH-P8600 for $319 instead of the retail price of $500.
For me, I will not buy any big dollar car audio item unless it had a full manufacturer's warranty. After getting a couple of items that were absolute junk, and the hassle of returning it to the seller, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and getting the item back, and then something else goes wrong, and then repeating the above steps. I'll pass.
Some sellers on eBay are geniune authorized dealers. I got a Kicker DX350 from California, from an authorized Kicker dealer. He gave me his store name and address, and it was on Kicker's website as being an authorized dealer. He even included a receipt stating that they installed it, so I got Kicker's three year warranty, instead of one.
