i think what they mean by 6 speakers is 2 in the rear, 2 in the doors, and the 2 tweeters in the sail panels, just like 2001-2004 civic ex's.
The EX has always had 6 speakers. My 2003 Coupe EX came with 6 speakers. Two fronts, two rears, and two tweeters up front. Count em up = 6 speakers - nothing new. As far as the special edition - it seems to have a diff HU. Don't get too giddy about 6 speakers - they can put 20 speakers in - that doesn't mean they'll sound good

So if you have component speakers does that count as extra? Cuz I think my front ones are two or three components. So then I have... um... 6 or 8.1. w00t. If they don't count then I guess I have 4.1. Unless you count my shitty singing, then it's 5.1. Hahaha.
If you had two subs, would that be x.2?

It still wouldn't be anything more than 2.1, unless you guys have dvd players and stuff with more sound processing. You all still only have two channels of sound coming out of however many speakers you have. The .1 is just a fraction of your sound channels, the low frequencies.

I had 15 speakers in an old car of mine. Sounded great too. The 8 I have now sound better though. I only had the 15 because some were given to me so I made us of them. I had boston acoustics 3ways up front with an extra 6.5" driver in each door. Boston pro components in the back, and 3 10" pro subs. I really liked those pro subs.
Would it be a no-no to add aftermarket tweeters in the sail panels of my 2004 EX Sedan to go with my 4 stock speakers? Would it be throwing away money compared to getting all 6 new speakers at once? How much will it cost for quality tweeters + install? Any brands recommended?

The van I used to drive had 8 speakers. 2 pairs of Audiobahn ACX-653, 1 pair of Audiobahn ACX-693, and 2 Audiobahn High-Excursion 12s all running off of Alpine amps. It sounded pretty damn good.
More speakers must be better, right? I mean, like, there's more of them, so it's better!
1 good set of 2-way components up front, and a quality sub can sound 1000x times better than having 15 speakers.
There's a lot of science and engineering that goes into good sound. But y'all knew that already, didn'tcha?
