What do you guys think of Viper and this alarm system? It has remote start and a pager. What would one of these brand new go for and is $200 for the alarm good? How much would I be looking at paying to have it installed? Thanks!

Alarms are funny. Unlike car audio where you almost always get cheaper prices on the net, you can sometimes find great deals on alarms at local shops cause their prices usually include the install. If the install is not something you are comfortable with, you might be better to get one at a shop who will install it and who knows the alarms they install well.

nice alarm, but only comes w/one transmitter, another transmitter goes for anywhere from 75 to 150.

I had one and i think it sucked. We used to install them where i work and i know they suck, the transmitter stops working for no reason. They dont have as much range as you would think either. The viper 791 (with the blue transmitter) is a little better. But for the money, i would probably buy a compustar - the top of the line one has crazy range, like over a mile. I know 2 people with them, and they've had only minor problems if any. check out www.compustar.org. the best ones go for less then $300 on ebay if i remember correctly. the vipers go for somewhere around $400 - $500 installed normally, $200 isnt bad, but you can get a refurbished 791 at ikesound.com for $149
