Question buying a new box

I'm planning to buy a new box for my 2 12" Type R alpine subs
my current box I've had for quite some time and Im thinking about getting a new one, I don't really want to spend a ton of $ on this. I have no experience making a box, and don't want to spend the time it would take me to figure it out, so Im thinking about buying one of these boxes off ebay.

let me know what you think and if you have some better ideas that wouldnt cost too much I might consider getting something else, I like the idea of spending less than $150 shipped.

below are some links to the boxes I found on ebay that look considerable to me.

I like this box but Im kinda wondering if the mirrors would eventually rattle..

I'll probably get this box unless everyone thinks one of the other 2 are significantly better.

this one is the most expensive but might sound better.

thanks in advance for any suggestions/help

What type of box are you running now? I wouldn't get a bandpass box, those should be build to specific sizes according to subs, a generic box would most likely not Sound too good.

A ported box is a little less specific, but again, a vented box build to specifications tailored to those dubs would be a lot better.

CHeck up on that alpine says about those subs, see what they reccommend.

champaign, eh. I'm there too, n. lincoln in urbana

true..

Ed - gearbox pm'd me about the chicago meet and said u guys were goin, I was busy -- so would you build me a box? if so, how much we talkin?

Recommended Box Types : Sealed/Vented/Bandpass
Recommended Sealed Box Volume : 0.7 – 1.0 cu. ft.
..thats about all I get.. owners manual and spec sheet are both on this page

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...in=10&p_more=y

neither of them give anymore info than that about boxes..

..a guy I worked with had 2 infinitys in a bandpass almost identical to the 2nd one I posted about and it sounded good, I know custom is the best, but I dont expect anyone to spend a ton of time makin a box for me, which is why I figured that box might be my best bet. I've never gone bandpass before, I always did sealed.. but I've heard bandpass boxes before.

Save money. Take subs out. Caulk all interior joints with Liquid Nails. Let dry. Reinstall subs.

I just got a cheap one on ebay, should be decent enough, Im thinkin maybe sometime in the future maybe getting an IDmax 10, and putting it on an Obcon Godzilla box, the weird lookin bandpass box.. I think the connections on the plates were causing my subs to make weird noises, either way that box was ****, the wood was kinda splitting n stuff..

get an idmax 12, you'll be happier for the couple extra bucks. or pray they come out with a bigger sub soon
