How to burp
This was talked about a lil bit before, but can I get some tips and tricks on how to burp from some of the competitors out there?
...FYI, my box is currently sealed (2 IDMax in 1.4 cubes each). I wish I still had this in my car...

Pause your CD player, find the hz you want (use ONLY tones such as 50hz etc, don't use sweeps or music or anythign else, just flat tones). While still paused, crank the volume up to whatever level you like, signal to the judge that you are ready and when he says go, unpause for 1-1.5 seconds. Pause again. Now what you do after this depends on your personal preference, but what I do is halfway through the round, I do another 1-1.5 sec burp 2 hz higher than what I started at, then at the end of the round, another at 2hz lower than what I started at. You may prefer to only deviate 1hz either way, or just do 1 burp and leave it, it's up to you.

The problem with a sweep is that it will kill your battery quickly and not give you a chance to gain dB if you do not hit your peak right off the bat
In other words your battery will be too weak after the first couple seconds to give you any gain

depends on how much power youre running really. neither of you two are running enough power to really kill a battery all that quickly.
you have to remember, car batteries are able to put out a huge amount of amperage for a short period of time,

But even as they put out a huge amount of amperage for a short period of time, they are losing that critical wee bit of charge that could make the difference between a win and a loss.
I mean, I have seen people gain during a round using sweeps, but not as many who I have seen stick at their original number or number they posted during the first couple of seconds.
If anything, get a really quick sweep that covers all your tones in like 2 seconds, that way if the car is running, you can give the battery a chance to gain back that small bit of charge that you lost

) Fonto, each competition "company" or whatever you want to call it has different rules.
Read up on rules at these sites:
http://www.soundoff.org/
http://www.iasca.com/
http://www.slapshow.com/
Each one has different ways to categorize your car, and different rules.
I like SLAP because you get two runs through the lanes for your $20.
I'm assuming you just want to meter your system, and arent really looking to get into this competitively....

Well, my car is not really a great SPL car (it has been better/louder previously) or a great SQ car. My plan is to see what I do better in and focus on one.
...ideally, I wish there was some type of SQL circuit...my system would be best suited for SQL.
...also, i don't want to be laughed out of the lanes with my JBL amp
...but who knows, maybe the JBL will become a classic in the future with it no longer being produced
...hey, how many amps can put out the same amount of power at 1 and 2 ohms
...even though more and more amps are able to do this.

Question (since I've yet to attend a competition, but I'm getting realllly interested):
When they measure SPL, are they using C-weighting? I know most noise laws are A-weight....
Thanks!
