I've never seen this done but I would be interested to check out somebody's car that has done this.
Try checking cardomain.com and tell me if you find anything

^ agreed......pics would be phenominal........because i am all for trying new things such as fiberglassing but im new to it so i need to see something to kinda give me an idea of what to do.....so any help would be awesome.....thanks again.......and i'll check cardomain and report back..thanks for everything so far
well im starting it as soon as i get some steel, should be by the weekend. if I can get my hands on some steel plate thick enough i will just use that. the only thing i can't find is urethane foam, which i will glue to the steel and round it off and fiberglass over that. hope it gives you a better idea. And where the factory radio goes, I am going to put a TV with a false motorized panel covering it, not sure on the design yet but it will open when i turn on the radio.I will be starting the radio this week, I will let you know everything and ill take pics all the way threw.
yeah i plan to put my afc, boost guage, and turbo timer behind a motorized door to hide it all where the factory hu goes.......but i would greatly appreciate it if you took pics as you went along....i have a fuzzy idea what you mean but i just want to be sure as to what i'll be doing ...thanks
i'lll do my best to contact ludlam but like dannn said a completed project would be awesome to see........the one that i have seen that looks really good is the one that is in the picture w/ the 6x9 in the center console......that cig lighter peice looks real good but who knows........

im only doing this one more time, third and final time im putting it up
(by the way, if im ever vague, its because i feel creativity and using your OWN ideas makes installs that much better. i spit on custom work with instructions, its then no longer custom. I will give you ideas, help, pointers, but im not doing a step by step)
alright, in the last 3 years ive dont this same thing 2 different ways. method one works only with the headunit you do this job with, method 2 can be reused over and over with different headunits
method 1 - get the trim ring that comes with your headunit (the plastic rectangle that snaps into the deck that makes it look flush
attach it like so:

resin it over with some fleece, an old sweater, a t-shirt, your bedsheets, old pair of boxers, curtains, tablecloths, doesnt matter, something that absorbs resin, nd something stretchy (helps get the curves molded). when dried, judge if you need more reinforcement or not, if you do, add glass
unfinished nasty glassed look should look like this:

then sand sand sand bondo bondo then paint, carpet, vinyl, whatever your little heart desires
method 2 is basically the same, dont have any pictures of construction, just finished shots of the piece
method 2 you basically make a din-sized frame out of some thin wood (1/8th or 1/4 inch thick works) where you could drop the radio cage in (the sheet metal rectangle your radio snaps into in the dash) and then continue as above using the wood frame as opposed to the trim ring, and then like that you could buy new headunits, keep the same piece, and this one will look like this:
