Smallest Sub Setup?

I am really in the mood to get a Sub and next month is my 3 check month so I will have the cash. I have looked at the basslink and I like but I want to check other options since I see a 10" 1 sub box is about the same size. If I went with a box I would put the amp under my driver seat to save room in the cargo area. I just want to add some extra bass to my system, but not the the kind were my nearest next door neighbor that is a half mile away can hear.

What would you say is my best setup for this a 8" or 10". What should I look for in a amp? I have never shopped for one and I do not even know who makes good ones and bad ones. I am willing to shop online if anyone has links or a hookup.

I mostly listen to hard rock, heavy metal, and some rap if that helps any. Since I take my dog in my EP now and then I am worried about spare tire setup incase he brakes through the grill and I would like to be able to take out the sub with ease when he in there so I do not have to worry him hurting anything.

I've never seen in the back of an Si hatch, but I say get a 10 that has a realllly small mounting depth and airpsace requirement, so you can build a box that is virtually flat with an inlay so you can mount an amp. You could run the amp wires thru the box and out the back or out the bottom and you wouldn't see a single wire, it would be really clean.

It might take some looking to find an appropriate sub since your choices will be severly limited, but assuming you have enough space to pull this off, I think it would be really trick

I have a JL 8w3 D2 for sale, wired in series for 4 ohms. In a small ported box, it sounds great in addition to sealed, in an even smaller box. I've never seen a Si hatch either, but in my sedan, i fit it in the spare tire will with the spare tire in it still.

Check the sig for a link

I take it this is not what you're looking for (sarcasm implied):

I've seen someone on here with a false floor type setup in an SI, but I can't remember who it is. I, personally, have never loked in one, or installed in one, but from what I've seen, there's like a little dipped in area behind the rear seat, that might be an option, assuming that the spare isn't under there, which after looking online for a bit, I think it actually is.

Here's a member page I found over at sound domain that may give you some ideas. Though, you may not decide to do the glassing that this guy did, especially on the sub enclosure, it could still send the wheels turning. It has his original setup with a single JL 10W7 sub in a small box, as well as the glassed enclosure and hidden amp install he did as well. Hope it helps some.

building a false floor with an 8 would be ideal, infact pending on how the spare is set up (u maybeable to mount a fiber glassed box right down in it, i have never looked at the si with ideas for installs, but i cant be bad. If u go ported in a hatch it will thump!, but sealed will sound great as well.as for the amp if u mount under ur seat make sure it has an internal fan or doesnt run too hot, dont want to over push the amp or burn the under part of those nice a$$ seats!
