Need some suggestions..

I'm trying to hook up a P.A. system in my car, and after looking around and trying to find the perfect spot for the horn, I mounted it, but it was a pain. Now I have to power the 3 amp fuse included with it to a 12 volt source. I have the box for the P.A mounted in the glove box, where do you guys think I should hook up the single wire to the 12 volt source at? I'm not the worlds greatest electrician, which is why I'm asking. Thanx for the input.

Switched 12v wire for the cigarette lighter would be a good choice, especially if you don't use it for anything else, that way you won't even have to change the fuse for that circuit, you will just have to re-route the power.

Just yesterday I used tap connectors to hijack some juice for my digital voltage gauge, which I coincidentally mounted in my glovebox.

The entire ordeal took a grand total of about 10-15 minutes, it was hella easy. There is also a ground there, so you can even ground the device if you need to.

Deck power?

What is already being powered by your cigarette lighter socket? A plug in accessory, or a tapped in accessory? If it's a plug in accessory, you can still tap into the wires, just put in a bigger fuse if the stock one blows. I would think the stock fuse should work, but I am guessing its about 5 amps, so maybe try a 10 if it goes south.

For a PA, I'm nto sure, but maybe you may need it to be on all the time, not just when the key is in teh car, in that case, you might want to hook up a switch and connect it to a constant 12v source. Just a suggestions. If not, just tap into the Cigarette lighter wires.

Ok, I didn't get to do everything I wanted before it got dark outside, but I was able to see that something was plugged into the cigarrete lighter and it went up, towards my head unit, but I have no clue whether it was connected to it or not, didn't get that far. Since I barely got my head down there to see, I couldn't make out what the hell was in there, some kind of small black thing, has wires coming out the end of it and goes somewhere. Either way, tomorrow I'm probably gonna take your guys' advice and tap into one of the wires.

Does it matter which wire I tap into?? Don't think it would since it's all powered by the same thing.

As long as you are on the source that you want, either constant or switched 12v.

Could it be your alarm brain that is using the lighter wires?

I don't think so...I have a CrimeStopper installed, and it came with an assload of wires, but I doubt it.

Why do you doubt it, what else could it be? There should be nothing else in that area that would be tapping power, not that I can think of at least, unless you've got a ton of custom electrical done
