Just wondering why majority of the people here think SONY Head Units suck.

I personally think Sony decks are the best looking units.

Looking to buy this unit is it garbage?

I don't know if I'd consider myself a Hardcore "Audiophile," but when I had my Sony HU, it would have been really hard to be an Audiphile when the music skipped as much as it did. It started skipping a whole lot after about 5 months or so. When it played, it sounded fine though. I have a Pioneer MP3 HU now and it's fine.

That's my reason for not liking Sony's HUs.

I don't think Hardcore Audiophiles care about how it looks though.

nakamichis look stock. yet perform great.

most people knocking sony have gotten burned by them. i used some speakers in my early car audio days that bottomed out very easily. my friiend had an amp that severely underachieved. the HU's aren't the most durable...

yet the cost? comparable to other brands that perform better $ for $

THAT is why you find people reccommending other products

i would say to go with a middle-of-the-road alpine or panasonic for that price ($300!)

I have a friend who has a low end pioneer deck.. deh-1500 or so compairable has had it for 2-3years now, treats it like ****, and the thing still plays as it did new, rarely skips, etc.. pioneer is very durable I don't have much to compair it to tho, when I was younger my cousin had an Eclipse deck that I thought was the coolest thing in the world, sounded good too :P

i hat the same hed unit
i loved it
but now i have the pioneer dehp8600mp
more features plus i work at a shop and change radios freq
love the ability to dl images to the head unit

i think sony stinks,,, had the motorized one and it started acting up after 6 months push the volume and it opens and closes hit the eject button and it turns up the volume,, i looked at 5 display models at different stores even the newer models and they did hte same thing except for one, someone messed up poor craftsmanship.

I had a sony MDX for 2 years and it never skipped once. I loved my sony, it also had a bigger sub output than my new clarion.....My sony was awesome!

I love sony decks! Maybe its because i treat my electronics with care, but i have never had a problem. I've had two sony decks. I have the sony xplod model in my pathfinder and it is still great. I have the sony flipdown deck in my vic and it still performs. The red lighting matches the interior perfectly! I also have two 12" sony subs. No problems. They do look great too.
