screwing in subwoofer box

Hey guys. It's my first install and I want to screw the subwoofer box but I'm not sure how/where to. I figure this kit would work:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0xyTozw...=0&cc=01&avf=N
but my dad is worried about screwing into the gas tank or the car rusting in the holes. Should any of this be a concern?

Also any better ways to mount the box? Thanks in advance.

(btw 2003 civic ex coupe)

I just made a thread about this, I am in the same dilemma....

Find my thread and have a read through it. I haven't decided on a way to mount it yet, but I will let you know when I do.

how about the area where the trunk mat is clipped onto the trunk?

seems to be a strong area and it wont go to the underside of the car..heh

screw an L-shaped bracked into that area and the other part to the sub box?

thomusvoo is on a distinguished road
i have the same thing.
dont worry about anything.
just measure your box thickness, then use a shorter screw than that thickness.
so you dont make holes in the box.
