need amp help
need amp help
I recently purchased but they have not arrived yet, 2 kicker comp vr 2ohm 10' spekers, and a rockford fosgate 1051s amp. The question i have is the amp to big for the speakers? If so will it blow them? If I turn down the gain on the amp will that help?
I belive the speakers can handle 300 watss rms and 600 peak. And the amp said it was pushing 525 at 2ohms.
Any help with this would be appreciated,
thanks.
You are at risk only if you're not careful. You should be fine as long as the gain and input to the amp is low. Beware of cranking the music all the way up. Btw- Why are you hooking up such a bada$$ amp to those speakers. If you can afford that amp, why not get better speakers??

those aren't bad speakers IMO, they just need gobs of space to really get going. not SQ speakers either.
if you got 2 ohm ones, do you mean they are dual 2 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils? if they are dual 2 ohm, amp sees 4 ohms, so you get 4 ohm power (probably more like 250-300W rms) not a bad match up then.
