Question System Upgrade Thoughts?

Hey everyone, I haver been thinking about doing some upgrades to my car audio system over the summer break. Since I pretty much have the whole summer to carry out my ideas, im in no hurry to do it when the time comes. Here is what I have in mind. I currently have a JL Audio 12w3v2 in a slotted box and I want to upgrade that one sub to two 12w3v2s. Now for the subs, I am probably going to build a new closed box rather than port these two subs. My one 12w3v2 in a slotted box is pretty loud, will the two v2 subs in a closed box be alot louder than 1 sub in a slotted box? Going to the amplifiers, since they make or break the performance of the sub, I currently am using one Alpine M300 to run my V2. I am trying to decide if I want to buy another M300 to run the other sub on or buy a totally new amplifier, preferably one that runs 600W RMS, 300W RMS for each sub? I don't think that I can wire these two amplifiers together, I forget what it is called, and use the power from both to run two subs. I need you all to clarify that. Those are the two major questions that I am faced with. As for the amplifiers, I will probably be ending up with a new sub amplifier that will probably be alot larger than my M300, so that one cannot fit on the back of the back seats with my HiFonics ZX6000 that I currently have running my JL XR component set. So I am going to do some custom stuff. I am going to get a thinker board to replace the cardboard trunk bottom, im guessing if I can find a stirdy type of wood that is about .25-.50" think to replace the cheap trunk bottom. I will cut holes in the bottom of the board and make a mount for each amplifier. Flush with the board I will use plexiglass to cover the amplifiers. Most of you probably know what im talking about, I just can't explain it very well. What do you all think of my plans? I will plan this way in advance so I know exactly what I need and estimate how much it will cost. Id apprecaite the help.

id reccommend going with an upgraded amplifier rather than two of the same, it simplifies tuning.

there are ways around having to cut out a new floor for the trunk, if you can find a place for the amp. maybe bolted to the rear deck instead?

as to spl, technically by displacement, two sealed subwoofers have the same displacement as one ported woofer. realistically two sealed it should be louder. should be. but it also depends on box design and what frequencies you are trying to compare. But, in teh end, the *displacement* of the two sealed should be a smidge greater than one ported.
