Kickers, JL, DD, Fosgates... What's your budget?

If you just want that thump then just get a single 12", that will do.

All depends on your budget. As a rule of thumb say you have $1000 to spend, spend about half or better on your amps the rest on speakers. Assuming you have a deck already. To powerful of an amp is better then to low powered of an amp. As for speakers you just have to listen to some and find what sounds best to you.

Regularjoe is on a distinguished road
I'd suggest probably 10" subs for metal music.

All you need is one sub. I have a 10 inch infinity and that thing still thumps to rap music, etc. A small amp for the speakers will make the sound cleaner with less distortion.

Ok If you want it loud and clear you need 2 Amplifiers one for the front and rear speakers and the other one for the subwoofer. For Metal music you wanna get some 10" subs 1 or 2 depending on how loud you wanna go.

Thats pretty much all anyone can recomend because everyone likes their music different, so I'd suggest go to different audio shops listen and make a couple choices and then ask the forum for their opinion on the product choices you have.

It would be easy for people to suggest products that are made well, but it is up to you what sound you like.

There are some companies to stay away from no matter what: like Pyle, boss, rockwood etc

oh i totally disagree! the speakers in a midlevel stereo by far dictate sound over the amplifier power! Id definitely spend as much money I was comfortable on the speakers. not to say I should buy cheap power, but the bulk of my money should definitely go to the speaker choice compared to the amplifiers!

also a solid 4 channel amp should be plenty for from and rear speakers, that should save a ton of money on power right there! rather than a pair of amplifiers.

for rock music I'm a fan of bright active subwoofers as opposed to warm tone style woofers. something along the lines of entrylevel earthquake or pioneer for the bottom of the price range, with the IDQ in the middle for cleanest bass, highest transient response, the upper models of earthquake or orion HCCA (not the H2!) for the upper range of LOUD. the IDMAX would have the most output for amazing clarity, and would cost approximately the same or a little more than the orion HCCA. but then again, the output still couldnt touch an hcca.

as or as speakers, again, I prefer active speakers with lots and lots of midbass capabilities for rock. JL makes amazing speakers, but are jsut too smooth for my liking for blockrocking rock music. very well matched ot the IDQ.

I really like the earthquake focus component set for rock, the 5.25's fit in easily with a 1" spacer, the 6.5's are possible, but will require a little more work to fit em in. if you are going form stock, id go ahead with the 6.5's anwyays. the tweeters will fit in the sail panels, which is without doubt where id put them for rock, to get that nice hard on axis sound thatll make your ears bleed when you turn it up!

with a little fiuring, id say the best way to go would be to keep the stock rears on deck power, with a pair of earthquake focus 6.5 components up front with 75 watts a side (earthquake makes a bitchin 85x2 amp that can be had for less than $100 on ebay) coupled with an HCCA 12 in the trunk powered with a solid 600-800 rms. there are a ton of amps that cna be had in this power range, it cna even handle a jbl 1200.1 by itself, although this is really on the upper upper side of the power gamut for this woofer. it however would allow you to get a second HCCA in the future, two HCCA with 1200 rms in our cars is definitely upper 140's range for spl (really really loud)

assuming you built your own box for $50, the sum total would be well under $1000, with some spendthrift shopping, the whole thing could be done (with TWO hcca12's) for about $750, minus the radio.

$20 and that gets you TWO of hte stage amps i had suggested.

i dont see any focus components on ebay right now....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18803
thas what the woofer looks like, $250 is more than id pay for one, more like $200-$225, plus shipping. thats about the going rate for them. also check out termpro to find a deal on teh ancient hcca.

im sure everyone knows where to find cheap jbl1200.1's, and no, the brutus wouldnt power a pair of hcca. it sucks anyways (trolling)

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...0&BasicSearch=
if you go with a 600-800 watt amp and a 2 channel for the fronts, a 4 gauge kit will be fine. if you want to go the full 1200 or more, with an amp for the stage, the 0/1 or 2 gauge will be neccesary, audiopipe sells the cheapest darn kits ive ever seen that are still of quality parts.

I've always been a firm believer that MORE CLEAN power is better. A speaker will play whatever signal you supply it even if its a low power distorded signal. I've seen some of the cheapest no name speakers sound AWESOME when powered with a clean signal. Granted they usually dont have the power handling capabilites. But its easier to make a cheap speaker sound good with clean power then it is to make a expensive speaker sound good with low power thats distorted.

My 2 cents...My personal belief on this issue is that the speaker's enclosure is more important then the power supplied to it. A speaker of average craftmanship in the right enclosure can sound just as good (or better) then a "top of the line" speaker in a poor enclosure. So the moral is don't waste your money buying high end speakers that are not build for free air if you are gonna just shove 'em in the door and roll. For me, power is power up to clipping...I think an amp should be judged more on the quality of it processing (namely the x-over) then the amount of power it says it puts out ,or the name on the box.

I totaly agree that the proper enclosure is important. Assuming its installed properly I still believe that the clean power is more important than the quality of the speaker. Very good point thou. Installation is a key part of any install.
