Rep Power: 341 Protective grille for W7?
As of tomorrow, I'll have a 10W7 in my car. The guys at my local audio shops told me JL doesn't make protective grilles for their W7s. So, does anybody know of a circular grille that'll work for this? I don't want little metal bars. I want something that is going to protect the entire outside of the sub.
Any help is appreciated.

Rep Power: 304 the kicker grilles will work on there. depending on how your box is built, you can use waffle grilles. when i build a box, i always rout out a lip for the sub to be mounted in, for that very purpose. what type of protection are you wanting? what are you protecting against?

Rep Power: 341 Just protecting against anything I might haul in my trunk that might hit it. The kicker grilles look great, but I guess if I use a regular grille, I'll have to raise it a little bit around the base of the woofer to clear.

Rep Power: 304 also, some of the waffle grilles come with rubber feet spacers that go in each screw location. i know the ones at the local shop are like that. they would probably be your best bet, being as the holes are small in them, and it'd take something awfully small to penetrate it.but if anything bulky hits those, i don't know how much it'd withstand. guess it depends on how they are constructed. some of them are cheap and flimsy. just make sure whatever you get is made with a good quality.

Rep Power: 0 I think you would need to use spacers to get the kicker grill to work. I had one that I used on my Eclipse Aluminum and the surround would just touch the grill at times. I had to add spacers. If my Eclipse touched I'm sure the JL would for sure.
