infinity or fosgate components?
infinity 6000cs 6.5" components
OR
fosgate FNX2614 6.5 components
which would you recommend?
i can get em both from the same price
and they most likely will be run off of a 201s fosgate amp as well

I am really liking the Rockford Amps and subs I have tho.

i would say go with the Infinity's. i have had both of these component set in my car, and the Infinity's sound much better in the car, IMO. but, i guess its what you personally want out of your sound system. i like the risp mids that the Infinity's put out, which is what i was looking for. the fosgates were too boomy for my application.
I have heard good sets of rockfords in other cars, but I personally have the reference 605cs speakers, which is similar to the 6000cs speakers. Anyways, I didn't used to like my infinity's much but I dynamated my front doors and got a better headunit and tweaked the sound more and now I wouldn't dream of replacing my speakers

anything Rockford SUCKS cheese!!!!!
don't worry about sensitivity with speakers too much, proper installation can make up for a less efficient speaker (buy some rubber undercoating or baffles with it)

its just a different type of sound
the rockfords have an 'in your face' sound
but the infinities have a much more natural clearer sound
i perosonally like the clarity, but i know many who love the pure loudness
but infinity is made by harmon kardon, and they make some of the best audio equip.
but rockford has also been around for a good amount of time
so who knows really!
what was the point of this. i dunno.

i dunno, the infinity tweet can get reall muddy real quick. infinity doesnt really have the range I like to have a "live" sound.
but I agree, the rockfords dont have the transparrancy to have a "live" sound either.
but so few speakers really do sound live, not even mine can really sound perfectly live......
the reason I personaly would pick the rockfords between the infinities verys RF, is because in the same pricerange, the rockfords will just take a beating more (not neccesarily take a beating, just take it more) the midwoofers can handle a comparatively rediculous amount of power, and although the tweeeters tend to blow easily, and the crossovers a little too, the infinity tweeter carries much the same sound as the rockford.
but there simply is no comparison in low frequency extension, the rockfords win that hands down. and thats usually what people like the most abotu a front speaker. which again is a reason to pick the rockfords

which ones are you saying have tweeters and crossovers that blow easily?
Also, I know this is slightly off topic but I am curious. What would you say is the 'life expectancy', for lack of a better word, for a infinity speaker? Can you really keep them as long as you want? Or do they usually start to sound worse after a certain amount of time?

A very good question, dups, I have to be careful how I word my answer.
I cant claim to be an expert on Rockford products neccesarily, ive only installed three or four sets, and only two of those were fanatic series components, but here is what I've noticed in general about the fanatic sets.
the midbass driver has a silly high powerhandling, compared to the crossover and tweeter. they may be rated for whatever they are, what, 50? 90? RMS? We fed my buddie's set a clipped 150 rms each side and the midbass drivers freaking LOVED it. for his tastes, hard rock, they absolutley got down.
Unfortunately, the tweeters and crossovers dont quite have the same rediculous powerhandling as the midwoofer has. So by trying to push the midwoofers the their limits, we pushed hte tweeters and crossovers several times past what they were capable of doing. Under normal circumstances, deck power or a small 2 channel amplifier, the set would have held fantastically. But since we had it on high power with the gains cranked raw for distortion loving slaytanic carnage, the tweeters popped regularly, and the crossovers went out on us once.
Fortunately, as an employee of best buy, He bought them for $90 with the $4 PSP, and didnt give a rats fundamental posterior orifice, as he could take it to best buy and get a new set every week or two weeks if he had to.
That was the fanatic P set. another buddy of mine has the fanatic Q set. much more well built crossovers, if even the casing is an indicator. at any rate, they have never blown on him, and seem to be able to take as much power as his midwoofers. however I know that he has blown at least one of his tweeters, buit then again he too loves to crank his volume **** and especially loves to destroy subwoofers.
did I make any more sense with that reply?

the infinity set is wonderful too, dont get me wrong, I think infinity, especialy lately has done some pretty amazing improvements to their lineup. I REALLY wanna see what they do with the infinity perfect components, the rep told us that was going to be revamped for either 2004 or 2005.
however, the vast majority of entry level enthusiast's primary concerns (I consider myself in this category) with their soundstage is hwo much "bass" they can put out. ever notice that there are lots of posts here where people say "MY STOCK SYSTME HAD MORE BASS THAN THESE AFTERMARKETS!!"? Be prepared to join them if you get infinity speakers.
but, on the other hand, they really DO have much more clear midrange, fantastic vocals, strong note attacks, a very musical sound as opposed to rockfords "beat" sound.
but I do honestly believe that, especially if you dont plan on purchasing subwoofers, and ESPECIALLY if you do, the rockfords would be a better choice. Unless you plan to spend $800 on the perfect set and a rediculously high power amplifier (250 rms per side) to power them.

Yeah, I currently have the 605cs infinity speakers and I can definately tell how clear the highs are, but it is lacking in the midbass department. I was considering either those fanatic Qs (a buddy of mine has those as well), Diamond M6's, or JL XR Components. I don't know how soon I'll be doing this though.
