Disabling back seat locks

My amp makes the damn back drivers seat so heavy that lots of times when i fold it back up the stupid thing locks, and one day I know im going to pull something from reaching back there so much, so without actually jamming something in there how can you disable the lock mechanism from ever locking the seat down?

Hmm.... doesn't seem like a good idea from a safety standpoint... but maybe I dunno what I'm talking about.

then everytime you braked hard the seat would fall forward, or push the people sitting in back forward. try looking in the trunk for the lock mechanism thing i dont kno if thers one in our cars but when i installed sum stuff in my friends 01 accord the lock wudnt turn so i just fiddled around and pushed a latch thing on the ceiling part inside the trunk and the seats just fell forward.

Yeah, there are little plastic black latches in the trunk you can pull to release the seats. But its still kind of a pain with amps on the seat, at least for me.

youve got 2 ways of goin about this, this being hte easiest and most replaceable. you see the thingers that come out of the seat that are like metal sqare thingers that go nto the lock, just unbolt those

your other option is to remove the actual lock

especaially if u braked hard, and the seats folded down and the amp came loose, and flew off, or even worse u get into an accident and that thing decapitates another person in the car

that would suck and i dont think the insurance companys would like u too much

if his amp is mounted securely, and not just some simple ghetto rig he should be fine...

if its actualy possible to do so, but how about mounting shocks on the side of the seat and some other part of the trunk

that could prevent the seat from whipping down quickly

but im sure this would be too expensive and take too much time to make it worth while

something that migh twork and far less expensive or work intensive is to just pull the manual seat release in teh trunk then put a screw through it into the frame. now the spring cant return the lock shut, so the latch will never close back on teh seat.

assuming the frame is close to the latch somewhere

how about no.. the amp is fine where it is and I love the cosmetics of it so it stays. I guess i'll just have to set up some actuators to pop the lock just to be save of sudden stops and crap. thanks for offering advice guys.

Pop the rods that connect to the lock cylinder under the rear deck and pull them so it releases the seats and then zip tie them together in that position so they can't relock.
