Pioneer Type-S

Hey everyone,
I am thinking about getting 4, Pioneer 6 and a half inch speakers for my 2002 sedan. Anyone experienced these speakers? Opinions? Also, can we put 6X9's in the rear? I heard we could, but just want to make sure, are there perferations in the rear deck plastic?

Only the coupe has rear 6x9. Sedans have 6.5, and you have to take off the rear deck lid to install the speakers.

okay, that is good to know, but I still want to know how these speakers sound. Can they hit the bass pretty well without being distorted? Mid's and high's descent? A clear quality sound? I have stock speakers right now, so I think that anything will help me quite a bit.

Thanks,
PJG

I don't know about their speaker quality. I have an infinity sound system. Pioneer does make great decks, though.

from my experience, both pioneer and infinity both have a big problem with their lower end... its not there.

also, why 6x9's? id take a 6.5 over a 6x9 ANY day

yeah, pioneer really does not have much low end until you get to the 8". what you could do is replace all of your stock speakers with the pioneer and then maybe drop an 8 or a 10" sub in the trunk? this way you could have a decent sounding low budget system.

Ahem, I love my infinity speakers. They're amped of course, and I have tweets. Sub is good, too.

I have a set of Pioneer 1667 (3-way) 6.5" speakers in my doors (and another set waiting to be installed in my rear deck). I have been very pleased with them. They do a good job with the highs and mids; I have the (amp) crossover set to about 150, and the lows go to the sub.

I like the sound of them.

Smile

Well then, if the Type- S doesn't deliver that great of a bass note, what 6.5'' speakers will fulfill my want of decent bass, and equally good mid's and high's. I have heard that Boston, Rockford Fosgate and Polk all make nice speakers, any of those? Also, I don't have the dough to add a Sub or amp to the Vic right now, so bummer man. Hey, what can I say, I am a college student. Mixed Emotions.

Thanks, this post has been very informative!
