amp/wiring problem
i seem to be having a problem with my amp or with the wiring. at any given moment my subs will cut off for a minute or so and then come back on. it will do this numerous times during a 15 minute drive. at first i thought it was at the fuse holder, cuz when it cuts off, i'll pop my hold wiggle the fuseholder and it will come back on, so i redid the connections to make sure they were solid but it still happens. so i'm not sure if something is loose or somethings just wrong, any ideas?

18 sec......what kind of subs you pushin and what amp you have.....I was having the same problem with my kenwood pushing one JL dub 6......so I brought a new amp thats 2 ohm stable......no problems after that and im pushin 2 now.....it may be the amp ....it might cant handle the sub stability.
Braydogg brings up a good point...........
Can you diagram how you are wiring the subs, are they in series, parallel, bridged, one to each channel? Braydogg might be right, you might have the ohm load beyond what the amp is capable of. If you bridge two 4 ohm subs, that is generally too much for the amp as it would be 2 ohms, but in bridged I think the amp sees it as 1 ohm.

its a 2ohm stable amp, and they are wired to the subs in parallel. i had this setup for a year now and its been fine except for this past couple weeks, i know this is not the source of the problem. i saw the amp when the subs cut off and it wasnt even in "protection" mode so no power is getting to it. it must be the fuse holder, something has to be loose to it. but i redid the connections TWICE now. mayeb should just get a new one?

all power to the amp was off, so this makes me think its the fuse/fuse holder...thats the only break in the power from the battery to the amp and like i said when i jiggled it around the amp would come back on. but what i dont understand is i redid the connections twice and it still does this. could it be a bad fuse or fuse holder?
Okay so you are talking about the fuse on the wire from the battery? Or the fuse in the amp? If it is the one from the battery then I would think about replacing that just to see if that is it. If it is the one that is in the amp then I would think that It needs to re-soldered.

just in case anyone was following this thread, i replaced the fuse in the fuse holder, when i took it out it had some frizzle frazzle marks on it. i'm not sure what its from or how they got there but when i changed it, it works perfect.
