Question Cutting into kicks

I just ordered some kickpanels for my ride and some Perfect 6.1s to go with them. What do I use to cut the holes in the kicks. My choices are a dremel and a jigsaw (or something cheap that someone suggests).

Also, I dunno what to do about installing the tweets...should I install them in the kick or in the sail panel? If I don't install them in the sail panel should I leave my old tweets in there unpluged...or is that cheesy? Opinions please.

Thx!

Are they QForms? If so, put them in the kick...cause there is a spot there for them, it will look weird without a tweet in it....then just order LX sail panels for your OEM tweet location.

did you ever get the crossover issue solved? just curious if that's why you're ditching the quarts, or if you just wanted a change.

if you have access to a rotozip or similar cutting tool, that might be the easiest thing to cut into the kicks with. jigsaw would be a bicth, dremel might be alright though.

i used a dremel to cut mine, i got a bit thats meant for ceramics to cut it, the bit almost looked like a metal grinder, but it cut the plastic really well.
and the tweeters, install them in the q-forms, having the tweeters close to the midbass really helps imaging, but if you have the time, experiment with both locations, and see what you like best.

Cool, thanks for the help guys...I will prolly try with one of the dremel bits. Will one of those dremel fiberglass wheels work? That is what I used to cut the plastic speaker ring out of the door.

The reason I am getting the Perfects is because I beleive that the quarts that I bought have always been defective (the woofers came to my house looking like an open box item). I thought they would be ok and I didn't want to deal with Ikesound and there return policies so I kept them. When I originally bought the Quarts I had sound tested them Boston Pros, and the Perfects. I liked all three, and the reason I checked them out it becaus all three of these speakers have similiar traits. I went with the PSDs because they were cheap and sounded really good...I think I just got a bad set.

Anywayz, I am still having a few problems with noise and I can't identify them. I am still getting some static hiss, but I turned the gain down so much that it is hard to hear (but the speakers are not able to reach there full potential)...but the thing that is annoying me the most is that if I drive my car for awhile with the speakers blasting I will get a Ringing hiss after about 30 minutes. I have no idea what causes it (or I would fix it)...it is just really annoying!

annywayz, thanks guys...if anyone knows the part number of the dremel piece I should use let me know

i used a little bit shaped like a cone in my dremel. it worked better than just a normal cutoff wheel. made the hole alot cleaner. pm me..i know some people at quart that might be able to help out.

Thanks Alex, I will look into that tool when I get my kicks. As for the quarts, I have modified the speakers alot so that I don't think anyone can help me with them (I shaved down the plastic on the outside to help them fit in my door with a spacer).

are you using the tweeters in the back with the comp set? just curious if they can be coaxial or where you were planning on putting them.

I am just gonna have speakers in the kicks. No back speakers for me.

I spent the whole day today rewiring my car, and I put my x-over in the trunk...not as clean looking as before, but hopefully that ringing hiss will go away.

Make sure you do use a dremel and not a rotozip. My dremel died so i used the rotozip at work to do my holes in my qforms and holy **** that thing can take off on you quick when cutting thru thin plastic.
